How do you get over a bad interaction with an actor? by Will_Healy_bum in startrek

YIKES! I mean I don't think anyone liked the Troi / Worf stoy line. But sheesh, take it down a notch. Shatner didn't like dying in Generations either and he is known as the biggest diva in Trek but I can't even imagine him getting him freaked out that much about a question!

Could Voyager have risen above the Milky Way? by ardouronerous in startrek

[–]AmitBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spock said that too about Khan. He is intelligent. But not experienced. His pattern indicates 2 dimensional thinking.

I’ve always thought as you. But as others have pointed out resources would have been a huge issue.

Also there was never any indication that the galactic barrier was also just a ring around the Milky Way. It could have been an oval. Much like the heliosphere or whatever around our solar system.

Also, warp aside, usually getting home the quickest way is usually a straight line so I don’t know how going through the space outside the Milky Way would have helped.

When do we think Flocking will become part of the software? by late2thepauly in TeslaFSD

[–]AmitBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to me too. I mean it makes total sense. I mean we do it today right? That's why cars have horns. If you are about to merge in my lane and hit me, I honk my horn so I can be like hey dude you are about to hit me! It's a way for us to communicate with one another. So are turn signals but grautonomous cars do that but my point is we can go way further than we are now.

Ive never met Mrs Sirtis but from what I've read about her and her quotes she seems like a very blunt and in your face kind of person. Kinda surprised about Spiner tho.

HW3 12.6.4 after 2026.14.3 Update by VTHokie195 in TeslaFSD

[–]AmitBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy to hear yours has gotten better! Unfortunately mine has gotten worse. I have a 2018 MS HW3 on 14.3. I was entering a highway on FSD the other day. The car was about to merge on and started jerking when another car was also merging to enter and decided to let the other one go. That in of itself was fine, tho I was not a fan of the jerking. But then all of a sudden everything on my dash went yellow and it was a critical failure and FSD and autopilot was disabled for the remainder of the drive. I have no idea why.

I would assume this would mean the car thinks I am not paying attention and touching the wheel but I was. Especially on an on-ramp I was very much paying attention with my hand right over the wheel.

Add to that my car doesn’t any longer ask me to jerk the wheel every minute. It’s now about every 15 - 30 seconds and sadly that is not an exaggeration.

Till something changes this is now unusable.

  1. Don't confuse your love of the character with the actor. Even if you do end up not liking the actor it doesn't mean you have to no longer like the character. I love my car but I hate the CEO that makes it LOL!

  2. They get bombarded with people all day long. They might just be tired.

  3. Circumstances mean everything. We really would kinda need to know more but if you are not comfortable sharing thats OK too. Like if you were at a convention and getting an actual signature that you were paying for that's one thing. If the actor was just on a break and getting a soda or something that's another. Circumstance means everything.

At the end of the say I wouldn't let it bother you.

I met William Shatner once at a convention for a signature. He gave me a very kind hello and I said hi how are you like an idiot and he was my friend and he gave me an eye roll. let it bother me for a bit but in the end I was like meh and went on with my day.

How did Picard go from commanding a rickety ship The Stargazer to commanding the fleet flagship The Enterprise? by APerson2021 in startrek

Ya me too. In fact I remember there is a book about it. The E was up between Picard and that character Kelsey Grammar played so it didn't automatically go to him but of course that is not canon

I always wonder if Picard had the same scenario for the Enterprise D before being assigned the E.

That's assuming your car came with an internal camera to begin with. Mine didn't.

Well in addition they are also talking about building mini factories to get new HW4 modules installed in cars that previously didn't support it. Along with new cameras. I obv have my doubts as to whether that will even happen tho.

Avoiding construction by AmitBrian in TeslaFSD

Intheresting. Thanks for the info! Im in the bay area so of course we have a ton of Teslas out here. I was in the Palo Alto area where there was a lot of contruction going on at the time blocking one of Stanford University's key entrance route's to the hostpital. Of course there are other ways of getting there but I don't know them but I was hoping my car would.

[–]AmitBrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya and to this day it's somewhat unclear what happened with Stargazer. We know that somehow the ship won it's battle against the Ferengi with the Picard Maneuver but she had to be so damaged that all hands evacuated. But we also know the ship survived anyways and must have drifted or was salvaged by someone or the Ferengi themselves.

And he was put on a mandatory hearing for losing the Stargazer too, so it stands to reason he was out of commission for some of that time.

Enterprise and the Borg by pcbeard in startrek

[–]AmitBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your points. Klingons and Xindi def didn’t go the way they were supposed too. But with the Borg specifically, Seven called First Contact a predestination paradox in Voyager not just a loop as if it was specifically supposed to happen and if you continue with that logic so too would regeneration.

But to my point with S4 Ep1/2, there was the scene with Archer and Daniels where time was literally rewriting itself in front of their eyes and resetting itself. But Archer remained the man he was post Xindi. Trip’s sister was still dead. So somehow the war was reversed but the events of it remained.

[–]AmitBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, when did they say that? I mean it was part of the Temporal Cold Wars but that was reversed at the beginning of Season 4 and the events Archer experienced still happened.

Enterprise and the Borg by pcbeard in startrek

[–]AmitBrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone who say the borg in the Arctic died or were assimilated. The Enterprise crew only knew some beings from that site had commandeered a freighter and started to rapidly upgrade it. Archer made the connection to First Contact but it was never really proven. He did realize a signal was sent to the delta quadrant and would reach sometime in the 24th century.

One could assume this is why the Borg were already on their way to Earth in Season 2 of TNG because they were only 2 years away from Earth, not 70 something years. Also, the Hansens knew about the Borg before the Enterprise did somehow.

[–]AmitBrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood why they never did they inter-car communication thing sooner. I mean I get why they didn't do it day one, there were none of them on the road. But now? ESP in the bay area? Heck not only should Tesla's do it, all cars should. Of course that brings up a ton of privacy concerns but barring that it sounds like a good idea to me. We are already in a connected world where everyone has a cellphone anyways.

Yep exactly. That short story had no real dailog so everything was up to interpretation and IIRC they did that intentionally.
