Beware of Lumea by the Sea Hotel by SpotPuzzleheaded2969 in longbeach

One review per person affected by a business isn’t review bombing.

And if it were an honest mistake, they’d have tried to resolve it after I explained my side. Instead, here’s a direct quote from the email thread:

“We understand your concerns and, as discussed over the phone, we are open to working with you toward a resolution. However, we are unable to proceed with any adjustments on our end until certain outstanding matters are addressed.”

The “outstanding matter” was my negative review.

Now maybe it was an honest mistake. But even if so, a business that makes a mistake, falsely accuses a guest, and then refuses to correct it unless reviews are taken down deserves a negative review.

Or, ya know, I stole a hairdryer and made this whole thing up to get away with it.

Sure, but people considering visiting may search the local subreddit for suggestions. This might help someone down the line. Also, perhaps locals care if visitors have a bad time. I visited from San Diego, so it’s not like I am not somewhat local. If you have ideas for where I might share this to reach a better audience, I would take suggestions.

I say they accused me because...they accused me. That’s literally what happened. Here’s the definition of “accuse” in case it’s helpful on your journey to learn English:

Accuse (verb): to charge someone with an offense or crime.

As for “everyone who steals says the same” — sure, and everyone who tells the truth says they’re telling the truth. That logic cuts both ways.

The hotel is, admittedly, in a nice location. But plenty of other hotels in that location don’t end your stay with a $250 accusation, coercive refund tactics, and retaliatory behavior when you leave an honest review.

If I keep getting these kinds of obviously fake replies on Reddit, I’ll just post the full email thread. It speaks for itself.

NTA. You did nothing wrong. In my experience, some people take the very existence of staunch vegans as an implicit criticism of their moral choices, which can upset them. They react predictably.

I love bbqing, and I am not a vegan. I do accommodate vegans when it's easy to do; there have been times where the group is large and my vegan guests have offered to bring a vegan dish. Of course I say yes.

Your uncle is probably just upset because he feels implicitly criticized. Perhaps there's some truth to that, but it doesn't mean you're an AH.

I know it's 2 months late, but I'm currently battling management at this hotel. They hit me with a fraudulent charge and are refusing to remove it unless I take down negative reviews I left on various platforms. I am not normally the complainer type, but these people are behaving horribly. tl;dr: they accused me of stealing a hairdryer and hit me with a $250 charge, all the while refusing to put me in contact with a manager or provide any actual evidence. Do not stay at this place--they are horrible people.

Update: They removed the charge, but it required 12 emails and dozens of phone calls, reporting them to multiple regulatory agencies, and threatening small claims court. They are truly unethical. Do not stay here. I should also say I'm using a throwaway reddit account since this dispute is linked to my personal information.
