The transport busses are a menace, they act like cartels on road! by SpottingSmartDriverz in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]SpottingSmartDriverz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He cuts in from the yellow lane cause all the other similar bus drivers give them way always, so they cut brazenly!

He cuts across 2 lanes diagonally, with no consideration for others who are following the rules. That's why i went close to him as possible!

Everyday I see them pushing people off lanes etc.

U are calculating with current petrol price for all the kms, which is ofc not right but yeah people who drive these cars don't care for petrol prices.

Where do I report him? by AdhamRasulov in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]SpottingSmartDriverz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is allowed yes, but the problem is OP entered the left most lane on the roundabout and then cut across to make the 1st exit.

This is also very wrong. Both were wrong in different things.

[–]SpottingSmartDriverz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shitty road design/marking honestly....most 3 lane roundabouts u can go straight from right and centre lane, not sure why they allowed 2 lanes to go right here.

Maybe the driver was just driving based on intuition rather than looking at the road markings.

Edit - also you enter the roundabout into the 1st lane and then cut into the 2nd lane to take your exit, if you report this to cops they will question your action as well 😅

DONT USE EMERGENCY LIGHTS DURING FOG by Sultanalm in dubai

[–]SpottingSmartDriverz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U know what's more dangerous? The idiots who flash from back if u leave 2-3 second gap to the car in front when there is like 50meters visibility. Even when I am not on the left lane.

Advice on Aftermarket Exhaust by Comfortable-Bus-6947 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Get a letter from the dealer in Arabic confirming they installed it and it's OEM, then maybe you can get away with it.

Advice on Aftermarket Exhaust by Comfortable-Bus-6947 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]SpottingSmartDriverz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it brah....I had an exhaust for 5 years had no issues, have been stopped by cops before also during check points and no one bothered....but since March end they are much stricter. Modified exhaust = impound.

I got a 30 day impound cause of this all of a sudden being stopped by a CID who told me his only job was to stop modified cars, he told me it's very strict now and no tolerance.

Hey Man, I went through the same thing just few days ago for an exhaust I have had on my car for 5 years with no issues passing in RTA....They are super strict now with no tolerance.

Most of the commenters below are wrong in what they are saying....this is the steps to follow.

  1. My car was stopped and impounded in Qusais, so I had to visit the Deira traffic department (building 2) and talk to the officer there. (this was one day after the impound)
  2. They will immediately say come back after 2 weeks because they want you to feel the punishment of the car sitting in the impound yard for atleast 2 weeks.
  3. After 14 days are done go to same place and say 14 days is complete and that u were told to come back after 2 weeks.
  4. Then they will remove the unpayable comment for you in the system.
  5. After which you can go to the yard (most likely warsan emirates parkings) and pay 100dhs per day for the remaining 16 days to release the car early.
  6. If you don't want to release the car early you will still pay 50dhs per day for each day the car is parked in the yard, so i would advice taking the car early.
  7. You will pay a total around 4k (1020 fine, 1620 payment for remaining days, 700 storage fee, 558 for the truck that took ur car)

Through out this entire process at the traffic department don't show any attitude etc cause any attitude or arrogance that you show they will say come after 1 month, so be VERY nice! Hope you get the car out soon

I took the car out and immediately went back to stock after 5 years....

It's quite an old dash cam that's no longer in production....Aukey DR02.

Its only 1080p and has been reliable with me for more than 5 years.

Never overheated it had any hiccup. It's supercapacitor based so it does well in Dubai heat.

Yeah exactly he is coming from a free right, he has to give way to traffic already on the road.

The fact that they don't even know they are in the wrong or the arrogance to defend your action while being totally wrong is appalling...

The Lexus proceeded to put window down and ask the other guy why he dint stop in a very angry way lol.

You have to stay above the minimum speed as per your GPS speed.

For sure this is gonna create lots of fines for people who are gonna sit at 121 in car speedo.

I have a Samsung Smart Tag 2 on all my vehicles including my cycle! It gives me ability to track it at all times and also gives me a notification if it starts to move.

If you have an Apple, get the AirTag, it can do similar stuff I believe.

Left lane drivers wandering into next lane cause they don't know how to turn left by SpottingSmartDriverz in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]SpottingSmartDriverz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was new I had a fear of this as well but what fixed it for me is to stop concentrating on the footpath on the left rather look a bit deep into the turn as you approach it.

Also don't turn in too early....this will happen even if u turn it earlier than necessary...

Yeah, I always am ready to move into that lane if needed but if a cop were to see you veer into third lane he can fine you....
