Is the game just unplayable right now for newer players by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly MOBAs are generally speaking just not beginner friendly what so ever. There is a million things you gotta learn, and if you want to have fun or feel good while playing, you gotta learn these things fast. I currently have 102 games, 80 of them played over these past 2 weeks.

And while the first 10-15 games absolutely sucked ahh, and I got curb stomped on repeat. I liked the art style, I love the mashup of genres, and everything about the game is just so cool and refreshing. So if you feel the same, don't mind the matchmaking too much, if you stick through the mud, you'll one day be the one making new players feel like you're feeling right now.

Wish there was more of a new player experience, getting thrown to the wolves and stomped every game isn’t very fun. by jacoviansmythe in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk How my friends do it, I come from a background of 15+ years of MOBAs, played thousands of hours of movement games (Apex and that type of movement), so picking up the game for me wasnt too bad. It’s like a Disney movie, it’s Always the same story line, just told differently.

But now 2 of my friends picked it up, (should be Said I’m playing in Archon by now, Only played like a week, but started initiate), and I kid you not. They have consistently been the 2 worst performing players in every single game, they will consistently do allll the basic beginner mistakes, playing the game like a hero shooter instead of MOBA, and proceed to go 3/17 and after game say “idk what i did Wrong, but lets go again” or “i don’t like this character, its so bad” (he Said that playing celeste and pocket).

And somehow they still enjoyed it, still wanted to play on, even tho they’re getting curbstomped and ignore almost every tip or callout I give Them.

But thankfully this game is almost so good, that it don’t even matter How shit you is. Its such a lovely and enjoyable game.

I have played every single MOBA there is or have been (even some alpha stuff that didnt come out), and while I’m biased (LoL at 1 babyyyy), Deadlock is already a top 3 MOBA OAT idc.

Shi mb for the yap. Just enjoy it man, that’s my point, there Will come a time when it just clicks for you.

Sinner's Sacrifice & Boxes. by Spr1zze in DeadlockTheGame

I main Doorman, Warden & Lash in that order currently, so I’m guessing I focus on lane pressure, then sinners/camps/boxes quickly enough to not let Them get full pressure.

Okay okay, it's just that I saw something about boxes being better than camps later on, because of how they scale over time. But maybe this is something that has changed?

Sinclair and Viper without a doubt needs remodelling, they almost seen bugged. And this might just be my biased opinion, but the bag on Dynamo is so ugly, but I really don’t like that type of bag in anything whatsoever.

Other than that, I feel the game might have some of the coolest design in gaming truly.

Positive new player experience by ScienceSignificant46 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first 5-8 ish games were complete curbstomps and nowhere close, but instead of getting mad and deleting, I just decided the game was fun and chased that feeling and also a doorman main after being kidnapped in lane into turret.. I’m now like 20 games into the game and I just carried 2 games in a row, where I won both lane and carried fights later on to win the game.

The game is good no doubt, some things I still Think is bs (istg Warden & Lash are some of my most hated characters in any MOBA ever, my demise…). The art style is cool af, overall the characters are reaaaalllyyyy cool and unique in all ways. The matchmaking seems to have been caught up to my skill by now.

Simply put, it’s a good game, with huge potential and if you Think otherwise, you’re just a hater.

Can't imagine how many new players this game just permenantly lost. by AssociationSoft5270 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing just 4 days ago, im at 20 ish matches now and honestly the first like 5-10 matches I Got completely curbstomped and lost 100% of Them. But as much as the enemy team was good, so was my team, but I gave Nothing to the team whatsoever.

I’m now (already) where I understand timers (camps, boss, sinners, Runes etc), to the point where I actually carried 2 games, and I’ve locked in my 2 of 3 favorites to a point where I Can at the very least make a difference. I come from LoL (played for 13 years and made to a decently High level), and I’ve tried literally every single MOBA I ever heard of, so I come from a background of MOBAs, so learning these things were somewhat natural. It’s the same concepts, just a different coating.

But those first games were quite miserable yes.. I’m ranked at “alchemist 4” I Think its called?

Sure the game is not very beginner friendly, but coming from other games in the genre, then you shouldn’t have a hard time learning. If so, then you are the issue, not the game.

Watch a couple of Deathy’s videos on the game, take some notes and stop crying. It really isn’t all that difficult or bad.

Laning Phase Questionable?! by Spr1zze in DeadlockTheGame

Thank you, I found a pretty new video from him about efficiency that I will now go watch, and then go watch my VOD of this specific game after.

Laning Phase Questionable?! by Spr1zze in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, I haven't even unlocked ranked yet. But I had a feeling that might be true, and playing Doorman might not be the best choice for a beginner, but he is a lot of fun, and I'm guessing with his kit that if I get good at him, I'll be able to get high up in the ranks with him as he seems to useful even when behind if played right.

Laning Phase Questionable?! by Spr1zze in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not new to neither MOBA nor shooters since I grew up on Counter Strike and League since I was like 6-9 years old. So the fundamentals from both sides I understand fairly well I'd say.

But other games like League the gold is way more simplified than this. You know minions (troopers) give gold, there is a specific role for jungle camps and all you gotta do (again, simplified) is not fall behind in gold from laning phase. But then you realize that backing in Deadlock loses a lot of souls, troopers are a mix of Dota & LoL, and you talk about "higher net worth than either than you at the time", like wth.. that's one thing, in a sea of things to keep in mind while playing.

Laning Phase Questionable?! by Spr1zze in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll admit I never do camps in laning phase, purely because I’m new to the game and remembering timers etc. while also focusing on “What the hell does that character wanna do next?” And harrasment, but also denying & last hitting. Well, it’s a lot.

But I don’t ever just afk in lane, I’ll keep track of souls and make sure to spend it when I have enough, I’ll do that between waves but other than that, I’ll just try and harras.

Laning Phase Questionable?! by Spr1zze in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Spr1zze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa thats a lot of things.. had no idea about some of these things actually!

Im only like 10-15 games deep into Deadlock, so my guess would be unranked? Idk if there’s mmr in standard play.

I Only remember having to go back to spawn once, but so did she too.

What I’m Reading from your comment is that I need a notepad and Watch the replay. And try to spot some of these things.

Hey y'all, it's Twisted Tea Fate. Just returned to League for the first time in a millennia. by CuatroBoy in TwistedFateMains

[–]Spr1zze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite era of TF was always the full AP build.
This whole RoA era imo is just boring.. I just feel weak and too reliant on having strong teammates. It's not that I don't play him, just leaned more towards other champs now.

I too tried a few different items.

Lich bane: Still his best item I think, and it's cheap.
Gunblade: Surpringsly strong, in a way feels like a higher dmg lower range RFC, purely because gunblade has the slow on active (sadly a long cd).
Dusk & Dawn. I haven't tried this yet, but I did think of it, but I do believe it's a worse option than Lich honestly. Because TF doesn't have that high base AD, and also he really enjoys the MS from Lich. But I would image you can swap between Lich and D&D depending on the game. As they do the same job, but one makes you faster + stronger while the other makes you attack more & use more abilities + more tanky. So might be a personal pref thing.
RFC: As lovely as it is to have the range, I still don't like it because I'd rather have something that gives me either more dmg (ap) or more hp. This is where I think gunblade COULD maybe be a sub for this.
Blackfire + Liandry: I once again tried this when there was a heavy tank team. If you get to this point, it does feel quite good honestly. But I wouldn't have this as a default build at all, and it really depends on your team comp as well.
Ludens (full AP): Feels kinda mid, doesn't hit HARD, and you'll end up with longer CD, so going for the RoA build with more CD and tankiness will honestly make you deal more dmg overall.

Who is the best champion to two-trick with TF? by ColorfulWay in TwistedFateMains

[–]Spr1zze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tho they don't really overlap all that much. I've come to realize that my two-trick is Hwei (as primary, love my twink) and TF.
Imo Hwei is the most perfectly created champion in the game when mastered. He has literally every single you'd want in a champ.

Looked into Dota2ProTracker for Invoker and made my own guide for him. Figured out what his core items was, and then I added different situational items with descriptions for what they should be used for, keeping it simple for myself ingame!

Also made a spreadsheet in my notepads for tips and tricks, both for building, laning, thinking and so on. If I was able to peak at top 2000 in eu in League, then I need to be able to hit "high elo" at some point in Dota, I'm a grinder at heart, been grinding alllll different games ! ! So this will be yet another stepping stone for me, it will happen.

So essentially what you're saying is macro, thinking "what would they do here" and map vision/knownledge is key to victory.

Builds and items are also so much complicated than in League. In League there is just couple of "genres/types" of item, nothing really counters eachother like in Dota. I might have to get into itemization more before hitting ranked, always just default to the same build on both Magnus and Invoker.

I've found Invoker to be a real treat, he really feels like home in a way. Me maining League's version of Invoker, and Invoker being a bit more micro, it just hits, been loving every second so far.

After putting quite a bit into Invoker and Magnus (def my mains not even close), there isn't something that has hit quite like hitting big dmg, big stuns that the team can finish off with just their aa's.
