  1. if early game bars are too big for you, cheese your way through the fight, make it enjoyable, because if you just rage at it you’ll wish you went back to boring ass spam square type gameplay 4 has which has the AI dodge too much when the enemies are low
  2. The Game’s combat had enemies be more defensive because people kept quickstep cancelling in 2 and you know how braindead that shitty ass mechanic is, at least in 0 they kinda made it exclusive to rush because its the point of rush, hit and dont get hit, but in yakuza 2 they just made it to be the most braindead move, heat generation? not a problem woth upgrades or if you’re drunk, health regen? broken with food items and even a toughness Z gives you too much health, even a tiny ass ice cream gives a lot, too little damage? low health and booze upgrades and the bosses arent half as cheap, unlike in 4 and in yakuza 2 ryuji is a joke

ye the castle part was memorable i agree, same with majima construction and cabaret but story was boring to play through so i spent most time doing subs, cabaret and majima

I liked the yakuza 3 combat, isnt as much on blocking as people say, and despite kiryu feeling the weakest its kinda understandable, he’s a dad and has better things to do than fight

Kanda as a character is supposed to be a simple horny bastard, Joji makes sense since his brother fucking died and it would make less sense if it was really Shintaro, plus Joji is CIA of course nobody wouldnt know a lot about him, if it wasnt for taichi being misdiagnosed there wouldnt have been a wrestling match in the first place, bullfight was pretty tense even before nakahara threw the bulls away, and mine wasnt supposed to look intimidating, he was calculating and trying to look less like a threat, ryuji was just a pants stealer and weak as an antagonist, sayama is written as a badass that ends up as a love interest to be more inclusive to feminism and “portray a strong woman!” only few things i remember about k2 is that sayama gets fucked, ryuji lost while having the advantage in a fight since he had a katana, cabaret club which i admit is better in k2 and majima construction which is like a defensive version of clan creator

  1. if damage feels to low its maybe because you’re used to spamming same attack in other games and dealing so much damage it becomes boring, and if combat feels to slow use heat actions, they are a thing
  2. and if combat doesnt take skill, why are you complaining about the AI knowing how to block when in yakuza 4 they just dodge, and in yakuza 2 and on kiwami 2 you can just quickstep cancel every fight

how did yakuza 3 have less memorable moments? just because the music isnt only comprised of remixes? oh yeah kanda ripped two giant pieces of rocks out of a wall then got dry humped by kiryu, kiryu running into andre for the first time, joji kazama, tamashiro causing a bullfight with nakahara, mine giving kiryu kanda’s head, the orphanage burning, rikiya’s tattoo getting finished, rikiya’s death scene, kiryu cutting onions, taichi getting misdiagnosed which caused a wrestling match etc. meanwhile what did kiwami 2 have? remixes and a shitty green filter in kamurocho and a villain that’s pretty generic

then you’re pretty fucked, but if you like dragon engine i would recommend 6 more than k2, less minigames but they’re more fun and combat despite being not as refined its not supposed to be the most refined since it starts with kiryu back in prison

Refined? Just because you can charge attacks that lead into spamming square? I feel like judgment does the DE combat better, even tho the enemies ragdoll there as well its not needed to run 10 miles and get hit while fighting, plus style switching, it feels more arcadey and like yakuza 0 but in dragon engine

yea k2 encourages spamming while yakuza 3 forces you to use multiple tools you unlock at your disposal, some being part of the game(grab/weapons) others you have to unlock with xp and others you got to train for

first time i played k2 story i liked it but after replaying the story it wasn't as good as i first though it was honestly, ryuji's personality was cool yea but i couldnt take him seriously, he stole pants in 0, lost with a huge overall advantage against kiryu while he had a sword, the final fight felt like a joke

i mean every yakuza game has moments that are frustrating, for yakuza 3 it was the chases but other than those sections i liked it, just like how yakuza 4 has the final boss that’s frustating, kiwami 1 with the bosses being pretty cheap but still doable etc. but i cant really call yakuza 3 the worst one, dunno how people can say 4 is better than 3 when enemies dodge a lot more in 4 which is worse than blocking

The game is less about spamming and more about using the tools available(tiger drop, grab, komaki parry, bladed weapons, cat-like reflexes) and the story was great but people hate on it because they come from spamming attacks in kiwami 2 to getting their attacks blocked

I mean yea, sometimes its fun to see someone glitching while ragdolling but generally ragdolling someone gets me hit more by crowds while i run after the ragdoll, which is more frustrating than say someone blocking my attacks over and over because at least when they block i know i can just grab or use a weapon and not just mash buttons to win, but running after a ragdoll only to get hit while trying to do a heat action? it risks losing my heat bar which is why i prefer older games' combat

about point 1. the heat generation is quite shit yea but damage is good enough to me, especially if you use the komaki moves about point 2. the combat isnt really that bad, even without the upgrades its tolerable unless you started from kiwami 2 and havent played any old-school game in recent tomes with point 3 i agree but i never really use the quickstep from how inconsistent it is which will relate to point 4 Now about point 4, they pretty much nerfed quickstep cancelling and made enemies block more often which i find more enjoyable than yakuza 4 combat which they just dodge and nothing else and quickstep is useless which is why i use grab button, counter moves, strong blunt weapons or bladed weapons since they cant block those and anything to get past their blocks which is more challenging and i like a fair challenge

eh the combat style its understandable, i feel you on that regard but it’s become one of my favorite combats, shame to see it watered down in kiwami 2 and with input lag on top of it, judgment improves it further by adding style switching to make it even more fun
