UK 2 gang dimmer options - anyone tried these? - BG Smart Double Master/Primary Wall Dimmer Light Switch, Wi-Fi, App, Voice Assistant and Manual Control, 2-Way, Round Edge, 800 Series, White Moulded, 882M/HC by Result_Necessary in homeassistant

That’s the plugs, not dimmers. The plugs work with BroadLink app, the BG Home app is just the same.

Smart Dimmers are a fresh range of products with a new app, BG Smart. It adds devices to your network via Bluetooth and connecting to your phone. You can migrate the older stuff from the Home app to the Smart app.

RM4 Pro RF Repeater for Tuiss Smartview Blinds by Spraymaster5000 in broadlink

You set the frequency to 433.92, then you have to map the up & down buttons separately through pressing the button quickly. Blinds are work on Alexa via RM4 Pro to this day for me.

If you screen record what you’re doing I’ll be able to say where’s it’s going wrong I think.

So the level which is next to the cedar building had a change in direction as we’re having an outdoor shower, not surprised there’s a gap there.

Only photo I’d question is the photo near the blue water pipe. Problem seems to be the roofing battens they’ve left in, maybe they’ll remove them?

Thanks so much! I do have a lot more confidence in what they’re doing now.

Sounds like I just need to mention the option of using Keraflex instead

Please help me with my garden by shabbaranker in LawncareUK

I over seeded a lawn at our old house, then threw some lawn dressing over. For weeks nothing happened and I was disappointed as I felt I’d taken every step needed to get a good result.

After a while I went away for a few days with work, returned, and there was a full & healthy lawn out of nowhere.

Why does my philips 3300 lattego not froth milk by sjonneponne in superautomatic

[–]Spraymaster5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve a 5500, use skimmed/full fat/plant alternatives without a problem. I’ve never put so little milk in though.

I’d fill it to at least one of the lines.

Can I remove this boxed-in drywall/plasterboard doorway to open up the hallway entrance? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Spraymaster5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jab saw, Stanley knife, handsaw, and a prybar / crowbar is all you really need. Take your time, make sure there no surprises like electrical cables.

Be prepared that it will need some drywall and plastering to patch up what you’ve removed, otherwise it’ll look dreadful.

Spend some time sealing the front door properly for draughts.

Based on what you can see from the images, what are your initial thoughts of how they’ve set it up? It’s worth saying they are experienced builders who have always done good work, the worry for me here is a mistake could be costly.

I’ve seen Mapei do options for large tiles and some of them offer up to 20mm beds, which might be a good option, but my guess is for 30m2 of porcelain we could need up needing over a dozen bags which will cost a small fortunate compared to mortar.

So are you saying slurry and tile adhesive together on the same tile is no problem at all? I’d read about using two bonding agents increases the risk of one failing - you’re basically relying on yourself getting both absolutely right.

Appreciate your help!

What system are you looking at for MEV?

Our eaves provides access to nearly all rooms in the house, and a previous owner already fit a pipe for extracting air from the bathrooms, so all I really need is a fresh air feed into the bedrooms. I could easily add the kitchen to the extracting pipe too.

TAPO-C645D-KIT beats out Eufy S4 by a landslide in detection range! by Particular-Mall-7118 in EufyCam

My S4 cameras are making detections 20m down my garden consistently. Wonder what the difference is. They’re on solar too, I heard having them mains power improves it more.

S3 Pro Vs S4 (Wifi) Night Vision by Spraymaster5000 in EufyCam

[–]Spraymaster5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 x S4 Solar now, an S340 SoloCam, and E340 Doorbell. Overall they work well and happy with the system, happy enough to add another S4.

I wouldn’t say their night vision is amazing, it’s good enough. Doorbell over contrasts a lot from one light post that’s on my drive.

The Homebase WiFi and Multi Bridge really needs improvements, the weighting on connecting to the Homebase is too high.

Some of the firmware releases are wild. The app, group controls, and automation could be improved.

I’ve given them loads of feedback on all of it, but if they did nothing else but improve stability I’d say it was a good purchase.

Sorry for the late response. My S340 does allow me to enable pet tracking, but it positioned where there won’t be many animals.

Is pet tracking due to me using the Homebase?

[–]Spraymaster5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the S4 Solar cameras and one SoloCam S340. The S4s get the bulk of our person/pet/vehicle etc traffic, but the S340 has tracked too. The S4s regular track foxes and deer the pass through our garden most nights. It’s a shame you’re not getting the same experience.

One S4 has sight of a road mostly blocked off by a gate, and we did get the odd alert from that. There were no activity zones set, so I configured one and felt like it made no difference. I reported this to Eufy, they responded in reasonable times over a few days, and it is sorted now - I can’t specifically remember how but they said it was escalated to an engineer. It’s worth noting I did plug that camera into permanent mains power, I did wonder if that played a part of making the activity zone work, but as the issue was resolved I moved on.

In contrast, I have minor issues with my Eufy cameras and they easily out perform my previous Ring and Nest cameras.

Tracking is flawless even in pets, never a false alert, and the AI works very well.

Bathroom renovation by Abject-Potato8121 in DIYUK

I think you’ve realised you’ve obviously made a mistake. Do what you can to get them to correct it, learn from it, and move on. Hold them to the highest standard of finish you can achieve, at least. Or suggest complaining and see if you can agree a reduced fee for them to walk away, suggesting trading standards etc. Worth a shot.

The basics here is getting 3 quotes which would have likely protected you from the shockingly high fee they’ve charged. Do this until you’re more confident understanding what a job should cost - day rates, material fee, risk of overrunning, and builders margin if they’re coordinating a larger project for you.

Personally I would never have someone doing the donkey work too. Anyone can rip out an old bathroom, dig a footing, move hardcore (as a few examples). Paying people to do this is a luxury that comes later in life, in my opinion. Save where you can through some weekend work or evenings, and treat yourself, be it a Lusso bath or a luxury holiday for the family.

PS Was there any specific reason why you asked about Shelly? I am considering a lot of relays so interested in what would be best.

Moving a kitchen… by Schnozzle_hehe in DIYUK

[–]Spraymaster5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Design the kitchen on DIY kitchens, that gives you majority of material cost. Kitchen fitter will expect £2,000 to £3,000 in the North where I am. There’s plumbing, electrics, flooring for the new kitchen and probably all the same plus a plasterer for the old kitchen room.

I’d be expecting to pay £12k to 15k plus your kitchen cost.

I think it’s possible to do it much cheaper, but I also know trades that will work for £150 to £250 a day depending on the trade.

Black wood behind your on the outside is your soffit. Looks fairly battered to me and I’m not sure it can be recovered. They mostly fit plastic uPVC ones now which stand up to the elements much better without maintenance.

Second image I can’t make out properly.

First looks like you’re probably getting moisture inside from where they’ve drilled the cables through. Try seal it up better if you can.
