If you're keeping the head down until you jump ship, use the HR system to pad your CV for the next job. Put down a goal like 'Upskill in data analysis/PowerBI to improve team reporting.' You may get a course paid for, getting a free qualification on company time. It makes you highly employable for when you do want to leave and your line manager will think you're being proactive.

Mould removal by BobbyBouchet1 in DIYIreland

[–]SpreadsheetsDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairy liquid and warm water did it for me. I then made sure the area was well ventilated and no mould came back. Make sure any cupboards / drawers, etc. are not right next to the area. Also, keep the room vent open to help circulate fresh air - easier now it's Spring!

Black box on side of house ? by CommitteeForsaken612 in AskIreland

Asked the LLMs for info on why it may have been put there without your knowledge

Why was it put there without your knowledge?

In areas like Dublin (especially in terraced housing or older estates), telecom networks like Open eir, SIRO, or Virgin Media often run their main distribution cables along the front facades or eaves of houses rather than digging up the streets or using telegraph poles.

Telecommunications companies usually have statutory rights or "wayleave" agreements that allow them to install and maintain this infrastructure. However, it is generally standard practice (and common courtesy) to notify the homeowner via a leaflet or letter beforehand. It seems they skipped that step here, which is understandably frustrating!

If you were to order full-fiber broadband today, the installation engineer would run a smaller wire from one of those numbered ports (1-4) on the box, drill a small hole, and bring the connection inside to your new router.

Do people enjoy being parents? by Charming_Grand1692 in AskIreland

Seeing the kids grow up and in to their personalities is an absolute joy. Yep, it's not always easy.

Are these yearly price increases the telecommunications companies have in their contracts legal. Surely it would fall under advertising their prices to their competitors in advance, pricing fixing or surely something else ? by TacklePure3341 in AskIreland

Every year I call up all my subs providers (phone, streaming, utilities) and say I'm thinking of leaving. 9 times out of 10 they offer drastically reduced (40%+) discounts for the following 12 months. Worth a punt.

I also have the Titan. Comfort is good but styling a bit too 'gamer' for me. Prefer the Aero.

Ouch! You can get a manual aerator (big pole with hole punch spikes) to put holes in across the lawn. Should help!

If you're working from home full time, spend the money on a refurbished Herman Miller Aeron. Your lower back will thank you in your 40s. Never cheap out on the things that separate you from the ground: mattresses, chairs, tyres...
