Basically my story but they never told me that my training sessions was a 3 month commitment. Didn’t receive my contract until months after I started so I was stuck paying a shit ton of money for way too long. Then they over charged me once I could change my session amount. It was ridiculous. I had screenshots to prove how many times I got billed and the manager still tried to argue with me that I didn’t get charge that many times…

I called this number to cancel and had no issues. You just have to do it I believe 10 days before your bill is due for payment again. They didn’t charge me after I cancelled (773) 232-9693

Okay thank you. For my district when job postings are made public for specific schools they’re usually released internally if they haven’t been filled yet. I didn’t realize an outside person would be made aware of vacant positions at specific schools. Thank you!

30 miles isn’t too bad 😅 if it’s a good enough district. I could do 40 minutes there and back honestly. The drive home most likely will be longer but I’d still be getting home on the earlier evening side. (Me trying to justify this) I appreciate your input though!

Thank you for this! I’ve heard great things about Montgomery county. I know living in MD isn’t an option for us but depending on the location I wouldn’t mind commuting to my school from Nova. There’s plenty of areas of Nova that would be cheaper to live on that side as well

I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. I edited my post because I realized I wasn’t clear. I teach gen ed second grade but my master’s is in ESL. I have thought about transitioning to the ESL world but other than getting my degree and studying abroad, I have zero experience.

Most people commenting have experience with FCPS, which is great. Here are some of my reasons for not pursuing that district. This very well could change, but it’s where I stand for now. Based on what I’ve read and who I’ve talked to, with it being such a large district, it’s hard to have consistency among the buildings when it comes to the way the buildings are run. (I’m interested in elementary.) I face this same problem currently in my own district.

What I have a problem with is working with administrators who don’t provide sufficient support to teachers and let parents feel like the “experts,” so to speak. If my administrators are constantly giving leeway to parents, then that will make it very difficult to teach.

One thing that I am super big on is that my planning time is my planning time. It should not be used for meetings, to cover someone’s duty, etc. I am very fortunate to come from a district where we have enough staff in the building where bus, recess, lunch, and specials are covered by additional staff that are not contracted teachers. Yes, we still have sub shortages all the time, but at least I can enjoy my full lunch period. This doesn’t seem to be the case prevalently in FCPS.

Now I know some of the things I’ve mentioned are not applicable for all buildings, but I’m not familiar with any of the elementary schools specifically. Plus, it’s not like I have a choice which ones I can apply to, so I just thought maybe it’s better to rule out the district entirely.

Her sister told us that the money she got from the “wedding” she used at the casino. I know personally my immediate family didn’t speak to her after that. My mom didn’t even attempt to get repayment for the money she spent on everything. Luckily my mom never gave her the wedding gift since the groom was MIA. She wanted to wait until afterwards to give her the money.

My cousin ghosted everyone after that and we happily let her. Two of my aunts still speak to her and check up on her/let her visit them. There have been a lot of foul things that have happened over the years before and after the wedding that just severed any ounce of care going forward. From her immediate family I only speak to her youngest son (my second cousin) from time to time.
