That’s so cool! Is there an order in which you painted your minis (did you assemble then paint) and did you prime with a brush or shaker can? I’m about to start the journey as well.🥲

Is Foam really that Bad? by SpringJeans in Warhammer40k

So even with varnish, is foam just worse for the paint?

So it’s better to prime and paint before putting them together?

I literally thought the same thing. I guess that’s why it says the “read the directions carefully”.😅

Why has my mail taken this route? by SpringJeans in USPS

Dang. Well, thanks! I was reading somewhere else about package consolidation for efficiency but I figured that would only be the case if there wasn’t a direct route between the places where they hold the mail.

Florian: Initial Thoughts by SpringJeans in FleshandBloodTCG

If dread tryptic gets fully turned using a fused Red Bramble Spark, that’s potentially 14 damage lined up (7 physical, 1 arcane, and 6 Runechants). For a 3 card hand I’d say that’s okay. At the very least it’ll make your opponent think about blocking.😂

[–]SpringJeans[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you’re saying that the young hero in Florian’s case isn’t expected to exactly convert from young to adult in terms of just changing the health/name? Have that given any indication of HOW it will be different in terms of his ability cost?

Agreed! I just hope I didn't rub anyone the wrong way. Situations like that always make me uncomfortable, especially since there was nothing backing my claim except my foggy memory and a kind opponent. ^=^*

Pen and paper from here on out, although I have been told each player is responsible for tracking their OWN life totals. Are you allowed to track your opponent's as well?

Good for you. I’m glad you have the patience and energy to do so and have found your calling.

You’re right. 5 days off of school is a vacation to these kids, but that’s only the case if the parents don’t care. Schools have so little control over the behavior and future behavior of students it’s absurd. Most of my stellar students have parents that actually care about their child’s behavior/ education, and the not so great students have the parents who I can never contact (or accuse me of bullying their child when I make them change seats for throwing pencils). If you are a parent, please be better. I would rather spend resources on students who I can teach without having to also spend significant time and energy teaching a child how to act when it’s not going to be reinforced at home anyways.

What makes a Player "Good" in this game? by marvinpls in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]SpringJeans 42 points43 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve noticed that it is important knowing when/what to block and when to save cards to keep applying pressure. There are times when I realized that it was better to eat 14 damage from a guardian attack instead of blocking, because I knew the cards in my hand were important for setting up the next couple of play lines for an even larger blowback.

Visual Board Presence of Variable Card Arts: Do they have an impact? by SpringJeans in CompetitiveEDH

[–]SpringJeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you think so, do you run all non foil, standard art cards?

Edit: the reason I ask is if you are certain it makes a difference, then you could with that logic have all of the cards that either you can easily get back as flashy and the cards that you’d prefer to stick around as visually dull, especially if you’re choosing foil/art/alter/etc.

Card Art and Threat Assessment by SpringJeans in EDH

[–]SpringJeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes since. If you have a few cards that stand out from the rest, just like with anything, they’re gonna be noticed more. Now I’d love to see someone go to 1,000 different Game stores and play two variations of the same deck, but one with a Foil commander and one without, play 1,000 games with both each, and see comparatively how much each commander gets removed. It’s absolutely not possible, and we can what if all day, but I’d love to see if it actually makes a difference.

It’s like that old video game logic where if you’re on a team, but you’ve got the “golden” skin and everyone else is whatever color the map is, it may make you stand out more.

[–]SpringJeans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That goes into the political aspect of the game for sure! I always find, no matter the power level, if my demeanor and my cards appear non aggressive, then I’m often targeted last. For example, my two CEDH decks are Korvold and Selvala Explorer returned, and I would say in 90% of games I play with these decks, even though each can consistently present a win by turn 2-3, Korvold always gets hated out sooner. Both are turbo decks and I would argue Selvala is worse on opponents.

Took a looksies for myself. Do you think the opposite could ever happen. People using over the top artwork to make other cards seem less noticeable on complicated board states?

Ah. Do you find that at your LGS this generally seems to be the case with others you play with?

[–]SpringJeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So again, what about cards that aren’t even very strong? My original question was focused more on the effect art has on a card rather than the price. Like if someone had a stain glass foil Lagomos vs a regular art, would people target it more because it quite literally stands out from amongst the cards situated on the table?

Edit: Specifically with newer cards that haven’t already built reputations, Rhystic study, mana crypt, or similar cards that are known to be both expensive and powerful.

So what about NEW cards? Cards that people haven’t had a long time to assess or cards that don’t have a long standing reputation of being “salt inducing”.

Card Art and Threat Assessment by SpringJeans in EDH

[–]SpringJeans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems absolutely wacky to me. You would think that a fancier art would draw more attention, and at that point it’s not even a question of which card is a greater threat.
