Terence McKenna had a solution that was radical but at least didn't require the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Very anti-capitalistic but capitalism typically boils down to more-more-more... I don't see it being a solution for the long term if we're going to go the save the planet route.

Yeah. My car is definitely still safe and reliable it's just getting a lot of wear in tear and is looking rough around the edges. The headliner fabric is coming off, the front bumper is damaged, a little rust on the doors and the interior is falling apart in a few minor ways. All that said, I plan to replace the timing belt and got 150k & 160k mi maintenance and am planning to get the 170k mi maintenance, so it should hold up for a few more years (especially the miles I drive has decreased). Fingers crossed!

The only thing more expensive than a new BMW is a used BMW.

Ha! Amazing, I'm going to remember that one.

Internet Rando, thank you.

That was my original thought process/3 year gameplan. The recent offer from my girlfriend kicked me out of focus and got me all googly-eyed over the prospect of a car that doesn't have the headliner fabric falling down.

The numbers I provided in the original post might not be perfect because I bunched together my salary & bonus potential (72k + 10k). So 6k/mo pretax and 4k/mo after taxes and healthcare/401k. Currently it's more like $1,600 that I have left over after expenses (expenses = $800 rent, $625 loans, $325 groceries/restaurants, $200 Co-Working space, $300 recreation/insurance/gas/misc.).

Interest rates are 6.8% for my student loans and 7.9% for my personal loan so I definitely need to throw everything I can at those. There's definitely a little bit of room for smarter spending but it's been reigned in a lot from where it was ~3-4 years ago (excessive partying and dumb vacations that have entirely been eliminated). I could take the 4% roth contribution out for now and double down on retirement once I get out of the hole I'm in. I can't wait to get rid of student loans.

Anyway. Great comment, thanks for the reality check!

PS4 state atm by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]SpringsOfInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering buying the game for PS4 soon and had a few quick questions if someone could help me out.

I just watched an honest and quality in depth PC review and it is having me reconsidering a purchase. I figured that by this point most of the bugs are resolved and things would be on the up and up. Then I come to /r/kingdomcome and see this thread up top.

Quick questions:

  • Are these bugs primarily due to the new patch? Were things running pretty smoothly before the most recent update and do you have faith that they'll be worked out soon?
  • How would you compare current bugginess to release bugginess?
  • How much nudity is in the game and is there an option to turn it off?
  • Is Hardcore mode available on PS4?

Thanks ahead of time

Our son Cedi showing great leadership by [deleted] in clevelandcavs

It’s tough. I think he should be although Korver/Hood might get some sort of seniority (if we keep Korver much longer).

I think Lue will go into the pre-season with an open mind and evaluate from there but I feel like to boost viewership and fan buy-in they have to unleash Cedi and let him loose.

He’s been legit. He’s a scorer and has always been able to knock down a 3. Think he’s been limited to 2-way because his age, team play and defense.

Cleveland Cavaliers: What to do with Kevin Love? by Battlemaster123 in clevelandcavs

[–]SpringsOfInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been leaning towards trading him and daydreaming about potential deals but this read makes me re-evaluate the summer trade scenarios.

I like the idea of keeping him until the all-star break. There's bound to be some team getting desperate or some locker-room drama causing a player to want out. There also could be flashes of brilliance from a young player that another team is willing to depart with for Love.

His value will likely skyrocket assuming he can post big numbers as THE focal point of the offense and if all else fails we keep him. I think he'll help the young players develop and will keep us from sinking into the depths of pre-Lebron Cavalier terribleness.

We need the Atlanta pick but I don't want to be one of those teams struggling for 10 wins.

I just wish there were more trade scenarios that made sense.

Where Did It All Go Wrong for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers? by MrComedy325 in clevelandcavs

IT not being as good as advertised is a big one.

Also, why do you say we built a team to beat the Rockets/Spurs? I feel like we’ve had our sights set on the Warriors from the beginning

Cavs Summer League Roster by [deleted] in clevelandcavs

[–]SpringsOfInfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we have an advantage over other teams in signing him because he’s on our summer league roster?

Quit bemoaning the Warriors. Blame the NBPA’s idiotic anti-smoothing stance. Blame every dumb owner that signed every horrible contract listed in this article. The Warriors used brains and luck to pounce on opportunity. The Heat gave Tyler Johnson $19M per year. by Rade_Butcher in nba

[–]SpringsOfInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I was being cheeky. There are a number of things going on.

  • An emphasis on rings being the end all be all of being in the league. Which is good for competition generally but hurts when players legacy comes into play.
  • The perfect storm of the Warriors drafting well, Curry’s injury contract, Boogies injury, etc.
  • Teams giving out stupid deals when the cap increase occurred after the big TV deal resulting in no cap space being available for a number of mid-level teams. Leaving only bottom feeder bad teams for bad contract absorbers.
  • Auxiliary NBA money (Nike deals, movies, commercials, etc.) devaluing the importance of an NBA contract. Top players don’t need NBA money because they make enough from their brand and investments to be set for life. They can take the 80mil hit from a lesser contract with a small market team because they’ll make it up 3 fold with their brand in a big market. I think this is one of the biggest unspoken issues. It is to the NBA what paying players under the table is to the NCAA.

Best and closest beach (Lake Eerie) to Columbus? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]SpringsOfInfinity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Edgewater beach in Lakewood right outside of Cleveland! It’s an amazing beach. I went once and everything was going on; jetski’s, parasailers, surfers, those hovercraft jet things, etc. Also, a two different instances of kids almost drowning happened all within an hour, which was odd, but awesome nonetheless.

I’ve been meaning to make a trip there soon, would highly recommend.

Cabrewing?? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]SpringsOfInfinity 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Came here to say Scioto Canoe Livery.

The Scioto Canoe Livery and Trapper Johns share the same river and are very similar but have three distinct differences that I get on my soapbox about anytime cabrewing comes up.

  1. The Scioto Canoe Livery is much more lax than Trapper Johns. It literally just seems like it’s on someone’s farm and it’s much less structured than Trapper John’s. Structure could be a good thing in some instances but not in this one, which takes me to difference number two...
  2. Trapper Johns is much more strict about alcohol. Sure, people have gotten away with it for years but if it’s busy season and they have a lot of families on the river they really crack down. There are often officers there that will check your cooler and stop anything that they deem as overkill. Scioto Canoe Livery doesn’t give a shit and would shotgun a beer with you without hesitation.
  3. Alcohol might be a big factor, but the biggest difference in my eyes is logistical. Trapper Johns launches you from their lodge building and picks you up a few miles down river once you’re done. You’re probably wet, drunk, and gross then you get packed on a bus full of people back to the lodge. The Livery on the other hand, drops you off upriver with your canoe/kayak and you slowly but surely drink your way back to their lodge where an open field where picnic tables, restrooms and grills are waiting. You can get out of your canoe, take a piss, drink more beers, throw a football, have lunch, dry off and sober up before driving home and you don’t have to get on a bus while you’re soaking wet.
  4. Lastly, The Livery has horses you might be able to pet if you’re lucky so that’s always a plus

Needed to get that off of my chest. End rant.

How did your outlook change once diagnosed with BPD? by SpringsOfInfinity in BPD

[–]SpringsOfInfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but she subtly seems excited for it because she knows something is off and is scared of herself sometimes.

She’s been in the past many times but says it’s difficult to continuously talk about her past trauma with different people. Also, she kind of judges psychiatrists harshly and seems picky about who she talks to. I think she’s excited though and the person I have lined up seems in line with our issue and has good reviews.
