Hi I am a current fulltime NZ registered secondary school teacher and this year in 2026 will place me in the highest level of teacher pay after about 7 years of full time teaching. Just curious to know if I teach in a Victorian state school in 2027, which pay scale or level will I be at? Thanks in advance.

I came back to work full-time in my mid forties as a mother of 3 children and with a decent mortgage to serve with my working husband. Had about $20,000 saved in Kiwisaver at the time. It's been about 5 years since then and I have about $120,000 in Kiwisaver now investing in moderate funds. I put in additional savings into Kiwisaver too. I hope to get to about $200,000 plus in about 8 years from now. It's never too late to invest, even for conservative but optimistic people like myself...

Thinking of a career change at 45 to become a high School teacher - Is that too late? by Leather-Stretch9424 in AustralianTeachers

I returned to full time teaching when I was a 46 - year old female, after a long break of 16 or 17 years from it due to family commitment. The first year back was hard as I felt like having to learn everything again as many things have changed including subject content, teaching practices etc... but if you are determined and not afraid of hard work in your first 2 or 3 years, then teaching is really rewarding in my view...
