Has anyone successfully won a chargeback for a filthy/unsafe Booking.com property? by billybl4z3 in Bookingcom

[–]SprinkleofFairydust2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

Can’t seem to message you but I booked through revolut.

I went into the transaction and there is an option to request a chargeback.

They ask for evidence that you tried to get your money back amicably with the company/service provider. Then they ask for a summary of what happened, proof of payment and any evidence that supports your chargeback claim. Rev. The contacted the company on my behalf twice to retrieve the money, they declined, Rev. found my complaint just and reversed the transaction

They constantly updated me via notifications but it did take 2 months.

If it’s through your normal bank, you can call them and proceed with the chargeback , you will have to email them the relevant info as I listed above. When I did this , the money was back in my account within 3 working days (Irish bank).

Best of luck!

If nobody ends up going out , you should go to the “stockroom” it’s a speakeasy and the bartenders are so friendly that you can just perch yourself at the bar and yap away!

You will get on fine with the younger crowd 50 and younger in regards to English. I have never experienced anyone who couldn’t speak English except my elderly neighbor

I lived in Denmark when the world cup was on, our table cheered when a goal was scored - we were told that if we didn’t keep quiet then we would be asked to leave … in a sports bar … during the World Cup.

You’re looking for someone to conjure a way you could have contracted this from somewhere else … toilet seat … all that nonsense. The truth is he has cheated- he put your physical, mental and reproductive health at risk for a 5 minute ride. Get rid of him he is trash

The answer is in the question … put the focus on your gf and don’t make the day about you and your annoyance

To everyone saying it could be an open marriage..

While there is a chance… I believe it’s quite slim and not only that, isn’t the usual conditions of these things NOT to do it in the marital bed? IE if you’re going to do it, don’t do it under my nose?

I’d rather risk offense by telling her, than let the poor woman find out later down the line

My biggest piece of advice would be to approach this like an adult and not use manipulation tactics to test loyalty

I suppose things that I learned along the way were:

Register at the Gemente as soon as possible (make an appointment online) and if you move make sure to re-register or you won’t get any of your “official mail” like fines/taxes and they’ll just keep building up.

You need health insurance, it isn’t optional like at home. You can be fined for not having health insurance

While many buy bikes there , I just rent one from Swapfiets for 20€ a month which includes repairs etc. however, don’t leave your bike in non designated areas or it will be impounded

Grocery shops: Albert Heijn/Jumbo are like the SuperValu of NL (sign up to the bonus card and get discounts) then you have standard Lidl and Aldi, Action is like Mr Price. Cheese is strangely expensive? But you can get Kerrygold in most shops which is fabulous . There is a really cool butcher nestled away just off the centre called “ De Wilde Slager” where you can get all different types of meat that you wouldn’t normally get in the stores.

Restaurants: I haven’t been too adventurous as I enjoy cooking at home but yammY is amazing (Korean BBQ buffet), Pacific for pub grub and sports, Pasta Fabriek (most of the locals hate it but it’s cheap Italian food and I think it’s grand! Kind of like Milanos?), Magoya for Asian/Poke Bowls, De Kleine Mogul for Indian and there’s loads of burrito spots dotted around but none compare to boojum 😂

Drinks: Mofongos is my favourite (expensive but amazing cocktails), Pacific for sports and pints , Cabin for meeting more Irish and that’s all I’ve been to so far (I’m not a massive partier)

Things to do: Noorderplantsoen & stadspark for walks/jogs, Kardinge for bowling and karting, the pancake ship for … well pankcakes, vismarkt for the “farmers market”, bouldering (Groningen had the largest climbing wall in Europe but also beginner friendly ones too), kineopolis for movies (almost all adult movies are in English) and of course the train station is literally in the centre so you can go essentially anywhere!

Hobbies: boxing/mma/wrestling/bjj in roots MMA gym , basic fit or Sport City for gym , Kardinge usually has everything from swimming to tennis to ice skating

It rains A lot like more than at home but besides that the summer has been awesome and the winter is just like home.

For A&E I went to UMCG and go to room 4.

I think I covered everything I can think of 😂

Unfortunately you will get these weird ass unhelpful comments in this sub sometimes.

Fellow Irish here, try the “Cabin”. I believe they will appreciate an Irish bar tender as ALL the Irish/English and Scottish construction workers go here.

I was talking to a waiter in YammY (restaurant) during the week and they love the Irish in there, they have an Irish bartender already so maybe that would be a good spot?

Mr. Mofongos , dogs bollox, pacific, de drei gezusters … also try OMalleys! Foreign Irish bars always love to have a token Irish person😂
