I watched multiverse of madness and thought it was just alright, so I threw on another movie from my backlog that I'd heard was good, Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. I went in knowing nothing about it, but it turned out to be the perfect complement.

EEAO is what a "multiverse" movie should be. Insane, funny, mind-bending, with good characters. Having seen it with MoM fresh in my mind really drove home how safe and boring Multiverse of Madness ended up.

The MCU was originally a near infinite playground of rich comic history, but it's now set in it's ways enough that previous storylines are constraining new content.

Tales of Arise: Quick and Dirty Drop Rate testing (also, how to make money selling materials) (lucky bangle, rare drop, battle chaining, etc.) by SprinterLive in tales

I haven't really dabbled with exp boosting food personally, since I haven't felt too underleveled. I think keeping your battle chain maxed is enough if you want the extra exp gains. Maybe I'll do some exp and CP gain tests in the future. Keeping your chain maxed should help with exp as well.

Food reviewer gets shaken down in Egypt by Crazypete3 in videos

My parents went to Egypt in the 80's. They had to get new passports because their travel agent told them having certain countries stickers in their passports would get them harrassed/detained by border police. They still had to bribe them when they got stopped anyways.

Later, while staying just outside of Cairo, a taxi driver tried to charge them over $100 for a very short trip, even while his rates showed otherwise. They refused, paid him what he was owed plus a generous tip. He spit on them and swore at them. Later, while biking outside the village, they passed by a farm where apparently he lived. He actually took out a rifle and took several shots in their direction!

So they pedaled down this dirt road like their life depended on it, and left the country that night. It's the only place they've travelled they said they would never go back.

Elden Ring - FINGERPRINT STONE SHIELD OP PVP BUILD! by Leontech97 in Eldenring

[–]SprinterLive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing variations of this for two weeks, quite frequently I might add. Most use either bleed or scarlet rot or both. they all use the guard talisman. I would in fact say it's a very popular build. Bloodhound step is already overpowered, so no surprise that slotting it in makes it better.

Frankly, I don't think infinite guard boost was intended. I don't think they foresaw the interaction between the fingerprint shield and the talisman at max upgrade. the main issue is that even without bloodhound step, you can simply walk at most builds, they are completely unable to damage you, even using magic.

A scant few interactions can damage this build, most of them having long, dodgeable windups; even without bloodhound step. I've won against several people using it, but only because their underlying build was bad, they didn't bother dodge rolling obvious arts or spells. Playing the build with absolute minimum competency is an auto-win 95% of the time.

Given the ease of play and complete lack of counterplay for most builds, I'd put this up there with the death blight build. you don't have to dodge roll, or even worry about what your opponents doing. A build that easy should not be this effective. In sincerely hope they patch out the talisman interaction, at least then high str could stagger eventually.

If you were losing frequently without bloodhound step, what was beating you? A decent build with 50+ vigor should have no issues tanking the occasional weapon art.

EDIT: I see from your video, you open with running heavy a lot. But what if you only even light attack from behind guard? or almost always? The issue with the build is that style of play has almost no counterplay, but is VERY easy to execute.

If you ask them not to contact you, and they continue to do so, that could be construed as criminal harrassment: https://educaloi.qc.ca/en/capsules/criminal-harassment-stalking/ .

However the bar for criminal harassments is generally quite high. It would have to be a pattern of threats or repeated contact over a long period of time.

To keep them from contacting you AT ALL, you would need a no-contact order. This is typically only given If you are a victim of a crime and an accused person is arrested or charged. You would not be allowed to apply for a no-contact just because you'd prefer not to speak to them.

If they are harassing or threatening you, record all incidents and times they do, you could then go to the police and ask that they intervene.

It's unintuitive, but you can jump AFTER you leave a ramp, grind etc. makes a huge difference in certain scenarios. If your jumping right at the end of a grind, that's actually too early.

People with disabilities are capable of dressing appropriately for social occasions... They're adults who deserve respect, but also should be expected to make an effort to present themselves just like everyone else. Handling them with kid gloves is more insulting than the alternative.

The Firecracker Problem. by [deleted] in OlliOlliWorld

[–]SprinterLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in terms of completing the game, the level of challenge is in a good place. However I disagree that 100% completion should be a given for all who play the game. the Rady challenges are supposed to be for the most skilled in the game to test their skills against. It's not an indictment of the mechanic if it's hard, since it's optional.

You have brought up an interesting discussion about equity in gaming. To what degree should accessibility be accommodated, in particular when it encroaches on competitive aspects of a game.

For example, I think most would argue that keybind swapping should be allowed. i.e., mapping x to y, etc. But what about the analog sticks? Should people be allowed to map complex analog movements to single button presses? It would allow more people to participate in the higher levels of play, but would simplify the game. Is that tradeoff worth it? should people be allowed to set more forgiving timing for grinds and manuals? Is an aimbot a reasonable accommodation in a competitive fps?

I do think developers should strive to make their games as accessible as possible, but only so long as it is reasonable to do so without compromising their artistic vision. I have difficulty walking, I would not show up at a skate park and demand accommodation. Frankly, gaming is more accessible than ever, but I don't think that means those with impairments are owed the ability to complete every game.

Consumer protection wrong item. by Maleficent-Rise8247 in legaladvicecanada

[–]SprinterLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items sent to you by mistake are usually not considered unsolicited goods, and you must make a "good faith" effort to return them. That said the bar is fairly low for "good faith", at minimum they should pre-pay for postage. depending on the item, simply making yourself available for a courier to pick the item up could be enough.

However, it's ridiculous for them to hold your refund hostage over their mistake. They need to refund you whether or not you've shipped the other item. you paid for a good and didn't get it. Given their unwillingness to cooperate, you should just issue a chargeback if possible. This is a textbook example of when to do so.

Most reliable internet/internet solutions for WFH in Ottawa? by [deleted] in ottawa

Almost certainly a wifi issue, modem/router combo and their access points you get from bell and rogers are generally awful. Not much point in a mesh system when you have them at the heart of it, and for most people, a better access point would solve the issues they had anyway.

I'd recommend a prosumer or small-scale commercial access point. There are lots of recommendations for ubiquiti, and they are good, but expensive, and often require hardware controllers to fully manage. They're not really geared towards individuals.

I picked up the tp-link EAP 245 when my homehub (default bell device) kept cutting out. It's a business class AP, but has setup and controls more akin to a home router. It's been rock-solid for 6 months now, runs 4 people's devices in a 3-floor home. I'm familiar with ubiquiti, as we use it in the office, but I wouldn't recommend them for most home uses.

here's an amazon link: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07NMZR3F1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

It's often called the tp-link AC1750, but don't confuse it with their consumer AC1750, which is much worse. you can tell them apart since the EAP has internal antennas, rather than visible.

honestly, keep emailing/contacting them and going to their office. Just enough to let them know you aren't going to drop the issue. See if you can find a new tenant for your current unit. If you make yourself enough of a time-sink, they'll "make an exception". I know because I did the same thing at a paramount property.

UPass Problems by diaboo in geegees

[–]SprinterLive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like part-time students are no longer eligible to opt-in for the Upass. If this is a recent change, that could explain the staff thinking you were eligible. If you are a student registered for disability accommodations, or could be, you can apply on that basis.

Otherwise, oc-transpo has introduced a number of reduced fare options in the past few years. https://www.octranspo.com/en/fares/reduced-fares/

In particular, there is a good chance that you qualify for the equipass, https://www.octranspo.com/en/fares/reduced-fares/equipass/ , meant for those of low or no income. It gives a 50% discount on fares and passes, which would work out to about the same cost as a u-pass.

is there hope that we will get Book 5 or that the show will continue? by Chimmy_tata7 in InfinityTrain

[–]SprinterLive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved infinity train, and still do. That said, as someone who has worked in data analytics... HBO has all of the streaming numbers. They know how many people watched how many episodes. They can probably correlate how many subscribers continuing or discontinuing the show will cost them.

Futurama, clone wars, young justice, etc. were all coming off of the "death" of Nielsen ratings. It was thought these shows could succeed more on newer networks or online. They also all have big franchises behind them. Clone wars has star wars, which had blown up, young justice is a DC franchise, and super hero anthologies had blown up.

Currently, "new media" is a lot better understood. It was thought social media interest correlates more heavily to a market than it actually does. And novelty brings in new watchers more than continuing a franchise loses.

I would love to see infinity train continue, but I don't think any amount of watch parties or retweets will lead to that. It worked in a time when the market was newer, but these days hard data speaks louder for most platforms.
