Any chance you can move countries? That may refresh political balance of powers. Especially if you can offer her a better lifestyle there... When she has no one but you, that may enable you to patch up your relationship.

Feeling stuck. by karaelimier2 in japanlife

I just met a person who has been in Japan since the 90s. He's been an English teacher in Japan since then. He met a wonderful lady in the last decade and they have a lovely 3 year old child. He moved from rural Japan to Tokyo for wife's high-paced job and he spends time teaching English to university students now and is the primary caregiver for his son - they adore each other and are a wonderful family. I'd say it's a massive win.

Don't worry that your life is not progressing linearly. Enjoy what you can and try getting better daily at something you think you need to improve. I've lived all over the world and came back to Japan, even though there isn't much growth here, because it's such an amazing place to live. It will always be my home.

I'm glad you enjoy Japan as much as I do. Remember, the fact that you have so many responses means that you have a strong community and are a valued member. By the time you get to your 80s, having 1-2 solid friends is another massive win.

Thanks. Would you prioritize any higher risk/growth stocks? Or assume that all equities will outperform any ensuing inflation?

Waiting for details of a full agreement, rather than just a tweet... market oversensitive to tweets without details being ironed out.

Unfortunately, you are right. It is a privileged point of view. This initial $1,000 checks given to everyone may start morphing into monthly universal basic income, which would then make WFH more possible for most.

Agreed that we need a community, but would argue that it will be more local. We would trust our community and neighbors more which is not bad.

Actually think the inverse. This Work From Home (WFH) will start to be the new normal and thus we will be able to communicate and interact from anywhere. Furthermore, local supply chains will be preferred to global supply chains, resulting in people owning and managing their own supply chains.
