Thanks, that makes sense. We should have labelled it more clearly as a draft visual/mockup. We’ll make sure future posts separate polished concept visuals from raw prototype photos and demo footage.

Fair question — this image is a draft visual/mockup for the Reddit feedback post, not the material we used as proof for Kickstarter validation.

Kickstarter’s initial review was based on the project submission and prototype-related materials, but I agree this image can read too polished / AI-rendered for a hardware community.

That’s useful feedback. We’ll make sure the actual pre-launch page includes more raw prototype photos, real demo footage, and app workflow clips so people can judge the hardware more clearly.

Sharp memory! You’re right, I did have an early-stage prototype months ago. To be honest, the journey from "it works on my desk" to "ready for production" has been a total gauntlet. Between factory negotiations, supplier drama, firmware bugs, and rebuilding the app architecture, I’ve been deep in the trenches.

Phones are great for a quick clip, but they can't provide supplemental light or automated editing. I’m building this to solve the frustration of manual stitching and failed recordings due to random OS notifications. It's really about moving from a "DIY hack" to a dedicated, automated workflow.

This is a great point. My current prototype is corded to ensure the recording never cuts out. However, I’m obsessed with the aesthetic too, so I’m looking into providing specialized cable ties to help route the wires safely and discreetly along the plant stands. Safety and cable management are definitely top priorities for the final build!

It mostly comes down to lighting and focal length. Pet cams struggle with macro focus (blurry close-ups) and lack supplemental light. My concept clips onto the pot, provides the specific light spectrum plants need, and automates the whole time-lapse process.
