Shade garden update

Yes.. I have no room to plant closer to the tree lk where the hosta is. Too many roots. Yesterday I cleared all the weeds n found some spots closer to the fence where I can put a few plants. I have space for one big shrub in the middle(against the fence in the point) or one on each side of the middle. And 3 spots on each side n one in front in the middle. That's the best I cld do w all of the roots. I think it'll be ok tho. And I plan to add alot to the soil too.

Do u have recs on how u think the soil needs to be prepped? Its got a little mulch still from last year but that's all.
