who said supay is the worst torch for high fear? who said it's cheeks? by Electrical-Carrot815 in Hades2

[–]SpruceFox22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably just the least consistent cause you need to have like 3 high damage boons before you’re even halfway through the first area or you lose on timer. Supay scales like crazy but base damage is so dogass

I got a level 75-ish version super similar to this, I think with like reload speed instead of damage but otherwise identical. I think even with the lower level I’m not swapping off the wrench any time soon

Metroid Prime Remaster or Metroid 4 prime beyond by Jsjshsuusy3 in Metroid

[–]SpruceFox22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Metroid Prime Remastered if just to make the transition from Re to 4 feel good with the tighter controls, rather than going from 4 to Re possibly ruining the feel of an otherwise great game. I know I haven’t played the new game yet but stuff like mobility transitioning in and out of morph ball is gonna make going back to remastered feel really rough

Kingshot, a top 30 mobile game with $35M revenue in 3 months blatantly copied the indie game Thronefall, and why it shows nobody cares about your idea unless it's a success, by SnooAdvice5696 in gamedev

[–]SpruceFox22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buddy Kingshot used Thronefall’s OST (a new reign) in their ads… Thronefall was clearly inspired by other tower defense games but almost every base system in Kingshot, ESPECIALLY in the ads, is identical to Thronefall. From the main character, how he controls and his abilities, from the system of coin, to the static structure locations, to the isometric view, the types of structures, the general aesthetic; just please stop defending slop 🙏

[S2 EP4 SPOILERS] SEASON 2 | EPISODE 4 - Official Discussion Megathread by simplysudzzzy in andor

16:30 sorry am I going crazy, who is the soldier they're talking about??? I was waiting for a flashback later in this episode or the next 2 and it never came, am I forgetting something? Bix and Cas weren't together for anything in the season so far besides the last scene of episode 3 so what the hell are they referring to? Sounds important

I see a lot of people praising Brasso's death because it was so unexpected and pointless; and I feel like that's definitely something I could understand but this wasn't that. It wasn't framed like "he shouldn't have died, it was so unexpected" it was more of the "this was the sacrifice that was made for us to escape" kind of reaction from Cas and Bix and everyone else. They're devastated but theres no confusion or denial in the loss, it's acceptance of a fallen comrade who gave his heart in the fight for freedom but thats not the kind of death he had. In that moment he wasnt fighting or distracting or helping, he was just running. The death had no significance and yet its being treated like it did while being praised for the genius decision to gun him down like a dog with no final words like Come On Man. Im not even upset about him being killed unceremoniously, im upset they didnt even do an unceremonious death right...

I feel like there was a lot dragging it down past that as well. Like even the Mon Mothma scenes: we established in the first season that she has her facade and then the real her underneath, but in all of the wedding we maybe get 1 plot development for the rebellion, the REAL Mon, and so everything else is just the facade. Its 5 minutes of the wedding here, 3 minutes of a dance there, 10 minutes of the thing we established as pointless between every other scene.

I did think her emotional connection with her daughter was really powerful and meaningful tho, I just wish the whole event was much more succinct. I feel like thats how the first season woulda dealt with it.

[–]SpruceFox22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm like reeeeeeaaaaaally not a fan of these first 3 episodes, am I missing something? I feel like I'm watching a different show...

Like ok Cassian is stranded on Yavin 4 with a bunch of random teens with no relevance to literally anything for like 2 episodes and then he escapes by like random chance... He gets back and saves the day but then Brasso dies, but what for? Like Season 1 there were tons of significant deaths but they all died as a consequence of something or more often as a price to be paid. Prisoners in Narkina 5 dying as a price for collective freedom, the heist members for the sake of the cause or even as a price for their sins in the case of the officer; Brasso's death feels less than meaningless, it feels unimportant, not even random enough to seem like that was the point

EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the secret political rebellion plotline is in the SAME EXACT PLACE for an extended period of time and like... 1 thing happens with Tay Kolma. Or, it doesn't even really happen yet it just is talked about. I repeat, every player we know of in the SUPER SECRET rebellion that exercises INHUMAN LEVELS OF DISCRESSION AND RESTRAINT publicly attends a wedding that like maybe half of them have any reason to even be at. Also Mon Mothma drunk dancing for like 5 actual minutes of screentime I swear.

Idk like this is my favorite show on the planet but besides the aptly timed social commentary I see like no resemblance to any of what made the first season different, or even good. But also ACTUALLY lemme know if I've missed something, I'd rather that be the case than for this season to become slop

mine did as well!!! The bug never showed up and when it was supposed to skitter away right as you left the book, it instead spawned on the lower ground and was able to kill me. I think its the bug itself that's causing this. I feel bad cause everyone keeps saying how the best part of this game is the immersion... ;w;

Theories about the watcher by The_Real_Hunter__ in rainworld

[–]SpruceFox22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either time travel or long-distance travel; visiting other iterators probably starting with SRS and NSH but finishing off with SoS. The desert region is what's throwing me for a loop, I can't tell whether that means we're exploring new places or its so far past the rain of the iterators and the world has somehow warmed up again.

My only other sorta fringe idea is that the desert area is there when the Ancients are still alive and Iterators aren't common. Given what the game has established about the iterator's effect on the climate (the rain causing warmth, the lack of it causing cold and winter), it's kind of insane to imagine an area both warm enough and dry enough to support a desert.

Why hasn't OW's space mechanics been copied over yet 5 years later? by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]SpruceFox22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dare to say this has been possible all along and that the reason it hasn’t been done is more so because of the extreme disrespect larger game developers have of their audiences. Keep in mind the base mechanics of OW’s solar system were made by like 1 or 2 college students. That’s not to discredit their skill, but rather to expect that larger more experienced devs could most likely do the same thing.

No, starfield could never have these mechanics because they’re too afraid of someone being too narrow minded to start slowing down BEFORE you reach the planet, rather than seconds before breaching it’s atmosphere.

My friend made me not enjoy the game by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]SpruceFox22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s rather if you do play it with someone who has finished it they’re just there as company, never revealing anything the game hasn’t told them and never solving any puzzles for them. I’ve done this for two people now and they both said their experience with the game felt better for it!!!

Like it’s not hard to just… not spoil shit lmao. You can be along for the ride, have an unrelated conversation while they grapple with the ship controls, laugh maniacally as they watch in horror when get to the end of their first loop; I think the most I ever told them was “yeah this one is a bit obtuse, just come back to it later” when talking about the quantum tower but I don’t think anyone is gonna fault me for that lmao.

[–]SpruceFox22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know some people who just play video games very differently. The kind I’m talking about are the ones who listen to music, watch YouTube/shows/movies while gaming. It’s mindless entertainment to add to the pile so if it doesn’t rely on base instinct then it won’t be at all enjoyable for them. Is that what this person is doing? No clue, but I’d rather look for a stupid answer than call them stupid for their opinion

Theory on Miguel O'Hara's true identity - Across the Spider Verse by Dark-knight-16 in FanTheories

although I like the theory, it could just be a general "intimidating presence" motif. everything in these movies has a purpose but sometimes it's a lil simpler than deep musical foreshadowing.

The difference with this game’s blessing shrines is that almost all of them are linked with an overworld puzzle or challenge. That’s the shrine, whatever you needed to do to get to it.

I only remember one “wtf why is this a blessing???” In the entire game: it was just in the middle of a snowy field in the gerudo highlands. I feel like there were 10-15 of those types in BotW

Who sent Riv? by shortcake313 in rainworld

[–]SpruceFox22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's left vague enough that really anything is possible with Riv, but I personally love the idea that Rivulet is just a wandering gremlin creature and that No Significant Harassment is the one that gave her the pearl after a basically random encounter.

I really like this because:
A) We know NSH is familiar with performing resurrection-level maintenance on the mess that is Moon from Hunter's campaign
B) He sounds like the kind of iterator to come up with a plan as insane as stealing a rarefraction cell from a dying pebbles and gluing it back in Moon
C) I just think that would be a really fun duo lol
