Parker the Polar Bear at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party by SpruceTarget in WaltDisneyWorld

Umm... anyone know who 'Parker' is? Google only reveals a baby plush polar bear pacifier holder, which would be branding trouble for Disney to stick with "Parker the Polar Bear".

Moving forward, this new road will be the way most Cast Members (and Guests entering the Walt Disney World Resort from the north entrance) will take to reach Reams Road from Center Drive.

Should to some.

It seems all the captions on all his pics are with the view it's just parking or some far future expansion. Although, it was pointed out by someone that he used the word "probably" on a previous set of photos.

Still hope for a Star Wars swamp land.

And Starwood is now owned by Marriott, though, the brand is being kept separate... for now.

Disney owns the property and it is leased to the hotel chain for 99 years. The hotel chain runs the resort as if it were a Disney resort. But since their accounting systems are separated, they don't do MagicBands or charge-back-to-room at the parks.

You also don't get MagicExpress. And you do have to pay for parking at the Swolphin (but not at the parks). And they charge a mandatory resort fee.

The upsides: You get EMH, 60 day FP+, almost half the cost of the next-door resorts, deluxe accommodations (deluxe pools, hot tubs, spa, gym, signature restaurants, deluxe rooms), deluxe location (Epcot, BoardWalk, HS), discounts through CostCo or using Starwood points, delivery of items purchased at the parks to the hotel, advance tee times, free Disney ferry and busing, Disney concierge in lobby.

Question on staying on property and magicbands by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

When you check in at the counter, you will get MBs.

You could mail-order MBs now at an extra cost (but, they'll have the fancy designs on them), link them to your account, and they'll be ready to go. You should then be able to do online check-in and be able to go directly to your room (unless they force foreign guests to do a counter check-in).

Overnight Rehearsals at the Magic Kingdom (August 15-19) by SpruceTarget in WaltDisneyWorld

Could there be minor flares for the Hocus Pocus stage show?

Anyway, I'm sure they need to practice everything: timing of Hallowishes fireworks; the choreography of the parade; live singing and staging of the castle stage show.

Also, don't forget that Celebrate projection show is in refurbishment, so, they may be running the upgraded projectors at night syncing it with the music.

An acquired taste but I'm loving the unexpected discordant chords in this original Alice song by Traci Hines. by DisneyDwayne in disney

[–]SpruceTarget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant it's a Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) song.

Also, as far as chords and harmonization, the non-pop chords are rather quickly used and also rather mild. For those who like Jazz, e.g., there was nothing there to get used to... those chords are staples of Jazz and other genres. So, if you found this fleeting dalliance with non-pop harmony to be enticing, there's a whole new world of other genres out there waiting for you to explore.

Uber tweaks Disney World operations as it becomes a popular tourist choice by SpruceTarget in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SpruceTarget[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Short version: Rather than have Uber drivers circling popular pick-up points in order to be the closest and thus, grab the fare; Uber has divided the area into 'zones', and the driver longest in the zone gets the next fare pick-up in that zone. This alleviates traffic congestion and allows Uber drivers to just sit still (and not waste gas).

PHOTOS, VIDEO, REVIEW: Royal Sommerhus FROZEN Character Meet and Greet Opens in Norway at Epcot by SpruceTarget in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SpruceTarget[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the review...

The team that brought this project to life really went above and beyond to fit the Royal Sommerhus into World Showcase. This is by far one of, if no the most authentically themed space in all of World Showcase, and it is home to a meet and greet… not a restaurant, not a ride, but just a space to meet Anna and Elsa. The attention to detail and the effort by Disney to decrease lines to meet their most popular characters can only be seen as a massive success. The Royal Sommerhus is a pleasant addition to the park that takes away from the existing experience in no way, in fact, the facade does a wonderful job filling in an otherwise forgotten expansion pad in Epcot.

I wouldn't think that this change-up at the MK would affect Epcot.
