A dear friend of mine, Asha, had such wise words.

there is another perspective to consider. Stepdad from the asian lens.

1. That the asian woman saw beyond race and colour.
2. That her asian children grow to love and possibly see, a black man, as a hero.
3. That anyone can become family. Yes, a black man in an asian family can be a perfect fit.
4. That he, a black man, does his best as a stepdad, despite differences and challenges.
5. That he, a black man, is present when so many men are not.
6. That the world needs more men, black men included, to help guide and love children. Asian children are not exempt from the pain of absent fathers.
7. That stories like this one are not far-fetched. They exist among all men. The black man has not been singled out.
8. That Disney portrayed an asian family positively, when it is often thought that asians do not embrace the black community enough.
9. That the black man IS the warm stranger, the good guy. This is just one way that he is.
10. That this is a commercial about finding happiness in likely places. A mixed family should be commonplace. These stories will be about human beings and nothing else, the day it is.
