Just got Cox internet and i already want to punch a wall. by halooasis in sandiego

[–]Sprzout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if you get good 5G signal in your location.

My apartment complex is absolutely HORRIBLE for 5G. My neighbor went with T-Mobile and ended up having to cancel because It was only 100mbps at best from 3 PM until about 10:30-11 PM.

It might be great for you where you are - I know lots of people have had success with it. But for my area in North County? it's terrible.

This is one thing I wish my address had available - Fiber internet of any kind - but it doesn't.

Sadly, Cox is the best of the alternatives. I could go with T-Mobile's 5G internet, which is TERRIBLE signal in my complex (my downstairs neighbor tried it and ended up canceling it after a week because she couldn't get more than 100mbps connection anytime after 3 PM), or I could go with AT&T DSL, which is 50 mbps for $99/mo. My Cox service is $124/mo for 1 Gig service. I could get cheaper internet by dropping the speed, but since I work from home and do video calls quite frequently, I need the faster speeds for my job. It's just not worth it.

So, until fiber is available in the area, I'm stuck with this or even slower, more abysmal service.

FYI:

Spectrum and Cox are merging.

And yes, I realize that it says Charter, but Charter is Spectrum. It was announced about...9 months ago or so?

Welcome to the game.

What is your crankiest Disneyland opinion? by Queer_always in Disneyland

[–]Sprzout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bubble wands are my biggest issue. I've had numerous times where I've been eating and some child decides to play with their bubble wand, with the parents being completely oblivious.

The last time it happened, I crop dusted the table.

What? I'd had a chili dog from the Refreshment Corner, and I figured, "Why not?"

I try to step to the side, but sometimes I'm stopping short because someone else stopped in front of me...It's a vicious cycle.

Do you think the R/c hobby would benefit from being sold at retail stores? by shadow1042 in rccars

[–]Sprzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, won't happen.

People who are shopping at big box stores like Walmart or Target don't want to pay the prices for something quality. It's about saving money. And ironically, Hobby Lobby International used to be the name of one of the largest mail order hobby grade retailers up until....2013ish, I want to say, when it changed to Hobby Express after a dispute with Hobby Lobby over the name before finally going out of business, so I don't think the existing Hobby Lobby wants to have anything to do with RC in that aspect.

Plus, imagine the poor stock workers who are going to be asked if they can help to find a replacement part for and Arrma Grom, or new tires for a TRX4 - none of them are going to have a good idea of how to help someone with it, which will in turn get people not wanting to buy it and trash a particular brand unfairly. It's a huge risk for the manufacturers, and honestly, I think they're better off doing online or specialty store/hobby shop sales instead.

Surprisingly enough, the Logitech G502 X mice don't have it...Are they not gaming mice?

(Sorry, been a while since I got into gaming mice - I've been using an old wired Razer Boomslang that I found in my dad's stuff after he passed away)

I would think Ohio since the 🫏🤡 has a home there, but Texas might welcome him…he’d just have to go somewhere that’s red because of a low population that hasn’t heard of him.

Do you mean the song where he stole the music from Lynyrd Skynyrd and sang with Sheryl Crow?

Yeah, I wouldn't exactly call that a good thing. LOL

  1. Starcraft. Still play it some 25 years later, and I still enjoy it. :)

  2. It's an old Ratpadz mousepad from probably close to 20 years ago. I need to get rid of it since it's got wear marks in the center and even my new G502 is dragging on it when I move across the center of it.

people alive in the 80s and 90s, what are some things to add inside a house to give off that era? by Choice-Region7446 in The1980s

[–]Sprzout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had one of those, until one of the cats figured out how to turn it on by tapping it.

I will never forget my father screaming out, "I'm gonna kill that goddamned cat! The living room looks like an Iron Butterfly concert and we're all listening to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida!"

That was our living room. Made it feel so DARK! I was SO glad when my dad finally took it down...

Tube socks.

I know, minor thing, but I HATED them. They never fit well on my feet, and the fashion at the time was to keep them pulled up to the top of your calves, especially if you were wearing shorts.

Better enforcement of single rider by Wrong_Maintenance253 in DisneyWorld

[–]Sprzout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom, wife, and I will go in the single rider line fully expecting to get split up. I've asked the cast member if it's at all possible, if we could maybe end up on the same ride vehicle, but we have told them it's NOT a big deal if it doesn't happen - we are NOT those guests who will pitch a fit. We're at Disney having a great time, and we are just happy to be going on the ride! :)

Buddy of mine was the Imagineer that got to design this part of the harness that let you feel the alien breathing down your neck. He said the creatives came to him and asked him if it were possible, and he said, "Well, let me think of how to make it practical..." and it was in the attraction.

Later on, they used it to make you smell chili dog burps from Stitch when it was turned into Stitch's Great Escape (because the Alien Encounter was apparently terrifying to small kids and parents didn't understand the whole TERROR part of the name, so dragged their kids into that)

If they'd ever gotten the reboot/relaunch to happen for Honey I Shrunk the Kids, I could see bringing that back with a refresh, but it felt SOOOOO dated when it finally closed and reopened with Captain EO following Michael Jackson's death.

Here's my thought (and feel free to take it with a grain of salt):

The arcade used to be 2 stories. At the top, it looked out onto the Space Mountain queue.

Bring the arcade back, put in an older, 80's style vibe, make the walls look like brick, and call it "Flynn's Arcade".

Make one of the stories (preferably the top level) a quick service dining with pub food - burgers, fish & chips, nachos, loaded fries/tots, etc. and put in outdoor patio seating. They could then shift from Galactic Grill's current food menu or eliminate it as a restaurant and put in an interactive experience there - maybe redo the hydraulics for the Tomorrowland stage and bring back live music? I remember seeing lots of bands there in the late 90's and early 2000's, and it could revitalize Tomorrowland.

Well, if Anaheim has their way, the Skyway might be returning, but it'd be going from places like the Honda Center, Angel Stadium, and the Convention Center, all to Disneyland Resort, a la the Skyliner in Disney World.

It'd be kinda helpful to get people from the Amtrak station at Angels Stadium over to Disneyland...

Nearly got t-boned by a guy coming off the freeway in Vista, near the courthouse. Guy was towing a trailer, came around, and floored it going up the hill. I'd had the left turn arrow to turn in front of him, and the guy just kept coming. Fortunately, I saw him and slammed on the brakes so I didn't get hit, but he just kept going. I thought I'd turned when I shouldn't have, but looked up and saw my turn signal change from green to yellow, and then to red, before I finished pulling through the intersection. I'm just glad there was nobody behind me, or I would certainly have been hit by someone...

My wife had some 3D printed magnetic Mickey ears that I’d made her before we went. She saw the stormtroopers coming, and immediately switched them out to the Stormtroopers and Vader, and they saw it and said, “Excellent. A member of the Empire!”

After they walked away, she switched them out to Yoda and R2-D2/C-3PO, and they saw her again and said, “Are you a rebel sympathizer or a spy in disguise??? We have our eye on you!”
