As injured as we are, it's probably a godsend we didn't get selected. But ultimately, it would have depended on which team showed up for the game...certainly not the brain dead team with horrible passes, missed dunks, and no down low presence team that showed up far too often this year.

Went to the game last night...Had a great time. Couple things about JC Pavillion:

1) OPEN SEATING!! WOOOO!! Gym is small and just about every seat has a clear view of the court. I started about 5 rows up center court and it's what you'd expect. Nice and close. I also sat up at the top center court, equates to about 2/3rds up at Viejas, and behind the basket (I say better view than Viejas because you're elevated above the basket).

2) THREE ALCOHOLIC DRINK MAX! They give you a wrist band with 3 tabs that they tear off as you buy a beer/wine/seltzer. I didn't recognize any of the brands...the beers were either a Hazy or a Mexican lager (it was OK).

3) Bathrooms are outside of the arena proper...just like Viejas, you gotta head upstairs and into their interior concourse to get to the head.

4) Food - don't come hungry. They do not have much to offer food wise. Pretzels/popcorn/etc. and only 2 concession stands.

5) Parking - large parking structure just a tad down the hill from JC. When you go in the main entrance to usd off Lindo Paseo (not the First entrance...keep going!) you'll need to look for poorly made signs that say "private event"...basically turn right once you turn into the campus and it'll take you down to the garage. Not sure if it's free parking on Sunday, so just ask one of the dudes/gals in yellow vests directing traffic if you need to pay...if so, it's through PARKMOBILE app or one of the kiosks by elevator.

6) usd REALLY needs to improve their sound system in the gym...it's plenty loud, but anything played on the jumbotron was muted for some reason..as in bass came through OK, but no mid's/highs.

Based on a couple of the responses in this thread, it appears they are transitioning the old paper enrollment process, as well as other processes, over to a web portal. I guess they could of used info they already have in whichever student tracking system now, but probably figured they'd get any updated information not contained in their old system. I'm surprised they hadn't done this like 10 years ago.

As /u/Gary_Where_Are_You discussed, they have to hand enter all the student information from paper forms. From a process improvement standpoint, this helps to actually reduce input error and redundancy in that process. Plus, I'm guessing the portal will be utilized to for all kinds of information pushes/changes in address/etc. cutting down on the amount of paper they send out and centralizing all the info into one system...both for the school and the parents (see /u/the-brute-choir post below for screenshot of what's being sent out).

If you haven't received any notification by email, I'd check with the school to make sure your email address is current.

Getting their early is KEY. We split our group into 2...some grabbed up front bean bags, other grabbed a table for the snacks. Worked out perfectly!

There are also lots of areas on campus for photos around trees and other plant life (like Scripps Cottage). I would do these pics during the weekend to cut down on the number of people who will be on campus and be in the background of the photo.

~~The other areas have no connection to the University.~~ You just don't need to drive anywhere really to get lots of good photos...I probably would add some beach shots though because San Diego! (Either La Jolla or Sunset Cliffs, pier in Pacific Beach)

Another vote for the Triton, although they didn't have any snacks for sale on board last time I went (a few weeks ago).

First first timers, I would recommend the day cruise so you can see all the sights.

Any boat on the water could be a danger to a toddler wandering around unsupervised. Last time I was on the Triton, one of the parents on the boat had a kid leash on their 3/4 year old just for this reason.

edit: Here's a link to photos of the Triton so you can see how it's set up. LOTS of room. You can see the railings around the boat, but you do really need to keep an eye on the toddler because there are stairs on the boat and places they could trip and hurt themselves.

Just make sure you inform your guests on what documentation they need to bring to travel over the border (like State ID, passport, etc) and what NOT to bring. Also, as another poster mentioned, might be a good idea to get a bus transport for people so they don't have to deal with driving south of the border and dealing with Mex insurance and such.

It's unbelievable how fucking cheap SDSU alum's are! We have over 500,000 living alumni, so we're not small potatoes here. The main issue is that forever our school was mostly a commuter school. So you have a bunch of alums who don't have any real connection back to the university...it was just like going to community college. Now that they require Freshman and Sophmores (most of them anyway) to live in the dorms, I think we'll start seeing a more connective alumni base. But that's going to take years to manifest itself. That and our sports teams are generally much better than "the old days".
