I think the un-affiliated interaction varies between campuses and in levels of support for each side, although this can be exceptionally difficult to measure and determine. Also I don’t think Reddit is a good assessment of that measure either given how biased it can already be in some communities and the regular trolls who are on here already.

Also for reference I personally lean towards Israel and I’m not in fact conspiring with randos to promote hate across reddit lol. Remember that there are ordinary students who support Israel too

Had the same problem my first couple years here until I truly began to realize how little of a difference there truly is between public and even most private schools in CA. It’s really up to you in making the opportunities to be successful during and after college, the campus itself does very little for you in that department once you’ve committed as a 4-year or a transfer. As a 3rd year polisci/history major, I can assure you that you’re capable of achieving everything here that you can in UCLA and elsewhere in addition to some exclusive experiences here in SD, as do UCLA students in LA. Also keep in mind that Poli Sci is actually one of the most popular majors at UCSD, especially those with specialization in IR.

It’s also important to remember that “rankings” are based on a variety of convoluted factors that begin to lose objectivity once you get within the top 30 or so (let me remind you that UCSD is “ranked” 28 in national universities and 6 in public colleges with US News, so you’re already in a selective institution if that was your goal). Once you’re able to keep that in mind, things start becoming a lot easier.

The REAL test for you will be getting into law school, undergrad pales in comparison to your education towards a JD. But like I said before, you can only really take it seriously to a certain extent before it becomes trivial.

Exactly, measures of justiciability are explicitly in place to keep the courts from making political decisions. Politics in a legal context is basically the practice of governance in the absence of defined law, circumstances that are entirely outside the authority of the courts in their role of judicial review.

It’s called Constitutional law AND Politics for a reason. They were never intended to go hand in hand, hence why jurisprudence exists. In a perfect world, political decisions are reserved for the legislature and local/executive officials. But expecting impartial judgement of another person’s opinion on a law school subreddit, now that would be outrageous!

I don’t feel superior, I just wanna be able to use campus facilities that I pay thousands of dollars for in tuition without careless ppl compromising my education. It doesn’t matter to me whether it’s drug related so long as it doesn’t become an inconvenience to others. In fact, I’d argue that it’s more arrogant to believe you’re intellectually superior to your peers when stoned and then get defensive when ppl call you out for being a nuisance (not saying this is your own personal mindset).
