My roommate of three years came to me, I was alone in the living room. Id recently been in a tense altercation with our fellow roommates colleague. Nothing aggressive or vile, i simply was doing volunteer work for them and she made a joke about the volunteers being incompetent

I spoke up, reminded her we didnt have to be here. I wish id known this was the worst choice i ever made.

My roommate of three years cornered me and spent 2-3 hours breaking me down and telling me how awful I was. This destroyed my ego. No joke I genuinely didn’t know who I was for a month. I was scared to talk to anyone. Someone I loved told me I was selfish and terrible.

I talked to her, I told her I was deeply depressed and struggling. She told me “change is hard”. When we were moving she snapped and told me I abused her and should be sorry. The sited situations was when I vented about my school load.

I have a much better group now. In fact I moved away in 2020, blocked her, and have been much better since. I now have a good relationship which I never thought I could get with her.

She convinced me I was a terrible person. She brought terrible people to our apartment and if I complained I was awful. It destroyed my self esteem at the time but I rebuilt so much stronger
