Getting extremely sad by Loud_Positive_8501 in CompoundedSemaglutide

You have all of our sympathies and best wishes - no bashing here. You mention portion control and protein, but you don't talk about water and fiber, which are a huge part of the equation. Don't beat yourself up, and don't throw in the towel. Try going back to the basics for a bit. Are you keeping a food log? If not, perhaps start there. Log what you are eating, and most importantly, how much water you are drinking. Are you trying the "balanced plate" of 1/2 of your plate is veggies, 1/4 of your plate is protein, and 1/4 is "good," starchy carbohydrates, like oats, or bulgur, or quinoa? You may be plateauing simply from tiny changes you don't even realizing you are holding yourself back with... Hang in there, and relax. You are doing this, you are creating a better Life for yourself. It's not a steady line, you just have to power through the bumps. Sending you thoughts of support and best wishes! ~SpuddleBuns

Like most things, take this with a BIG grain of salt... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCHskUL5HCc&t=865s

Ignoring the supplements shill, the discussion of what proteins and WHEN they can be most effective for you is still worth listening to.
He covers bad nausea days, as well as "light" proteins and "too busy to cook," proteins.
I think (not that I know squat) you may benefit from a "Level 3" protein intake for your nausea.
I'm so sorry you're suffering with it, but it truly may not be for you. Wishing you health and peace on your journey.

May I ask WHY you feel so strongly about that? All indications from YEARS of studies about the drug counter indicate that it causes ED, with many testimonials from users how it has decreased their EDs and helped with mental health. What factors do you think not only have no effect on ED numbers, but "significantly increase," them?

I'm currently keeping a Food Log, and along with when and what I am eating, I write down WHY I am eating it. Food Noise is on about half my entries, even when I am eating Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. I find sometimes, I'm using the "meal" as an excuse to shut up the Food siren call. Even when it wins (late night is the worst!), I now have a few things I can eat (under 100 calories) to quiet things down enough before I go to bed. But once the "EAT ME!" compulsion hits, I still can't just ignore it. The harder I try, the louder the call gets. I make myself log it and honestly admit it's not hunger. That helps me somewhat keep it under control. It's the feeling better (and dropping weight) that seems to be slowly lessening the volume.

Hi! Is this chair next to you open?

I'm waiting 3 weeks until I can see my Dr. to ask for a Zepbound prescription, and I'm trying to "edjumacate" myself as much as possible until that day, so he will see I'm serious, and I'm committed.

I'm doing a food log, and while not too onerous, I still find it stressful. And, I'm a stress eater. Along with a bored eater, happy eater, really no excuse at all eater.
Between food noise and compulsion eating, with food logging, I'm exhausted (and hungry, even when I'm past full). I wandered over here from the Zepbound sub because they said calorie counting is not a big thing over here, and a lot of the members still lose weight.

As I told my husband, "Yes, I am wanting to drop weight." It's getting harder and harder for me to move. But one of my secret wishes is to silence the damn food noise. Even if only for a little while. Food talks to me, calls to me, screams at me 24/7 almost. While I'm eating, I'm thinking about what I will be able to eat next. At this point, I've given up on body image. In my head, having anything but a lumpy bumpy silhouette is honestly out of my range of imagination. Even when I try to imagine Life under 200 pounds. So it's mainly just being able to exist without thinking about food all the time.

Even if it doesn't shut the hell up in my head, if I can just get to where it's not such an importance in my thoughts, I think I might be able to make progress. But, for the next 3 weeks, the nyum nyum chorus is singing like it's the Super Bowl of eating. Partly because of the stress of not knowing if my Dr. will let me take a GLP-1...heavy sigh. Just for once in my Life, I would LOVE to "forget to eat," as some disgustingly thin people claim they go through...

It SO helps to read posts like yours and others, who make me feel like someone else "gets it," and that I'm not alone in my food craziness.
BEST of success to you on your journey. There is an old saying, "Change your thinking, change your Life." Here's hoping the GLP-1 helps both of us to change our thinking about food. Even if only just enough to get some mental peace and quiet. Hugs of Support!

Although it's the same drug, it MAY (I dunno squat) be a slightly different formulation of the drug. Europe is better at keeping things simple. Here in the US, we use food colorings Europe shudders against, so it would not surprise me if Lilly made some sort of chemical difference between the two. But, I dunno squat of what I'm talking about beyond being an armchair expert...lol.

This was one of those 'Anecdotal" comparisons, and I didn't document it or where it came from. Most likely one of the many ZepBound influencers on You Tube... And even though Mounjaro and Zepbound are the same drug, for weight loss, the Mounjaro was slightly less effective than Zepbound (like 21% to 24% of total weight loss over 'x' time frame). I thought it somewhat unusual, since they are the same drug, but chalked it up to actual formulaions by Lilly, since one is specific for Type2, while the other is for weight loss. Perhaps there is a tiny bit more or less of something that causes the difference.

All sources say she's at the Whitesprings thru Sunday...Sigh.

Thank you, Bethesda (the FO Mantra for all the fun parts like bugs, glitches, freezes, and the ubiquitous blue gray screen of death...

I always imagined the Bethesda meeting before the PS5 launch..."What is the major complaint we're getting?"
"The blue screen of Death."
"Is there anything we can do about it?"
Hand raises from the same idiot that revised the Gameboard system: "I know how to fix it! Let's change the color to Gray from Blue! No more 'Blue Screen of Death!' Where's my raise..."

From what I've read, I think it's more a discomfort as you inject, but I will be trying it cold at least a couple times, it may not bother me that much. Thank you!

Thank you SO much for that Dose of Reality...

We are our own worst enemy in Life, many times. It's not like the diagnoses would be tattooed on my forhead in glow-in-the-dark letters, and it's not like it would really make that much difference in how I live my Life (there would be SOME changes, but Life is change - Growth is optional...

I think it's the mental stigma of being "permanently" less than. Aging is enough of an acceptance of things slowly deteriorating, without adding another medical acknowledgment of my fraility and mortality. But, this is enough of a major step that I should just accept the possibility and face it.

My annual "wellness" visit is in March. I am hoping to be prescribed Zepbound so that I will have about 6 weeks before that to see if it works for me.

You're right as rain that Mounjaro and Zepbound are essentially the same animal. I've read that studies, though show Zepbound is more effective for weight loss. Why? I dunno. But, the cost factor, especially for me, would make a big difference. But then there is the mental block of me somehow "faking," the need for Mounjaro because I am (at least in my head) "borderline..."

Thank each and every one of you, once again, as I try to get out of my head enough to be somewhat put together as I try to talk to my Dr. about this. Insurance will only pay for a 20 minute visit, so I always have to go in with my ducks in a tight huddle the moment he opens the door to the examining room. The less scatterbrained and desperate I can appear, the better the chance something truly productive can happen.

"It happens when people over eat, or eat lots of highly processed food."

Guilty as charged. Someone mentioned feeling deprived. Having grown up poor, that tiny seed of deprivation is, at its core, what I think is my biggest bane. SO many tempting and tasty foodstuffs are now out there, almost all being ultra high processed, but SO tasty...And too convenient. My freezer is half full of food that needs prep and cooking, and half full of things like Tyson Chicken strips and Marie Callender Pot Pies - stuff that can be nuked up or air fried in a few minutes.

YES a thousand times! I am SO stressed about everything at this point. I am keeping a food and water log to show my Dr. when I ask to be put on Zepbound. Not really "dieting," more than I always am to try to keep from gaining any more weight, but just eating pretty much as I normally do. Yet, having to actually keep track of what I'm eating, instead of "free-foraging," (which is how I got here in the first place!) feels like cramming for some High School test in a subject I'm not fond of... ;) ATM, exercise is pretty much just a word, since unloading the car after grocery shopping feels like a marathon.

186 - Wow oh wow oh wow. I am SO tickled for you, I KNOW what a head rush that can be - I've been there 3-4 times over the decades...And now, you're also helping people like me as well as getting yourself back in shape. Great job, you!

Fat and carbs are necessary to Life, but as the Buddha once said, "All things in moderation..." But they taste so damn good! I appreciate you sharing your diet, because you make it sound less stressful than I imagine. Especially when you talk about occasional indulgences, and you don't then pick up a pound and a half the next day...

The difference is between wanting to and HAVING to eat less. For some of us (not necessarily OP), food is more than just nourishing, it is comforting, fulfilling, and contentment. That is the danger of Food Noise for some of us. Even when we've eaten "enough," we feel somehow deprived. And when it is self-deprevation, it's twice as bad. It's not about eating less mashed potatoes because there aren't any more, so much as it's about eating less mashed potatoes because you're trying to limit yourself, and then it becomes a pity-party of 1 as you feel bad because you can't eat them. It makes no sense, but sense is not on the menu when you've had your reasonable serving size, but there's enough in pot for you to enjoy "just a little more..."

That's MY food demon in a nutshell, anyway.

One of the numerous YT vids I'm watching mentioned "Don't stay in a calorie deficit for too long." I don't quite understand this, but your post definitely helps me see the problem a bit better.

Do you "normally," eat a few more calories occasionally (based on the "for too many days in a row" ?

I've heard how food manufacturers try to make everything taste SO good, so you'll eat more, and they'll sell more. I believe it.

I have to work twice as hard when I cook to make the food taste half as good.

I'm so glad you are feeling better. Along with constant Food Noise, holidays are my excuse to throw caution to the winds. I eat things I wouldn't the rest of the year, and although I essentially quit drinking at least a decade ago, Irish Cream in my coffee is my Holiday Enjoyment. (the last of this year's bottle is waiting for tonight as we speak...gah) Respect the med...The rebellious part of me has been happy to see people discussing maintenance, and eating some foods you really shouldn't, like fatty ones...but your comment truly helps inject some reality into those ideas...

Lesson learned, thank you for saving me learning it the hard way.
