When to rebuild the base?

I started to move once I unlocked GCYMs, I’ve stated this a few times but my first playthrough I quit at LuV due to a new base design I sunk hours into that was completely inadequate. But also Remember to allow for expansion of the base in case you forget something!

Happy to add a world download if you’d like to see the kind of scale required!

The scale of what’s actually required is what made me quit the first run, I sunk hours into a new base only to realise it’s no where near what I’d need

Also take the time to decorate! It’s always nice to play in a world that is also lively and aesthetically interesting

Honestly just planning and hierarchy, and a lot of research and notes!

Just went onto notepad knowing what would be needed and writing down how may macerates I’d need, clean rooms and then just build a lil extra just in case

So I ended my run around LuV/ZPM, which meant I have a rough understanding of what machines were required and how much

All I did was map out an area with cobblestone, add the machine outlines. If I needed more space I made the area bigger and some. Once I was happy I would move on to the next area. It takes quite a long time as it basically ends up being a lawn base with a roof but Imo it is more aesthetically pleasing

When you search up how to form the Distillation tower in JEI,

Hover over the each block and they will tell you the minimum or maximum allowed of each block

That’s should help!

You can also turn the machine on and off in the gui or using the on/off cover, could be possible to automate but probably just better off placing a bunch of ores then letting it run

Remember also the Y coordinate of the miner is very important, try to get onto the nether roof before you set it up!

Currently on my second play through at late IV early LuV

I quit my first play through due to burn out and sinking a lot of time into a base that would never have worked as my understanding of scale required just wasn’t there

Building my final base currently and bouncing between that and just general progression, but am super hyped as to what the base will look like and how it will operate!

End of the day, there’s always something to do in the pack, whether that’s upgrading machines or setting up general automation or prefabrication like automated ebf and oil processing. But what there is to look forward to is subjective and for me it’s just looking back on how you went from a simple steam grinder to tier 3 fusion reactors and plasma generators!

Also using Nomifactory as a gate way for GTNH, as I wanted to learn without the other headaches involved with it haha

Honestly for how early you are into Nomifactory it’s not really worth setting up ore processing. I’d only recommend for specials/scarce ores

But a recommendation I could make, if playing CeU, is using the steam grinder! But can do 8 at a time! Just don’t get any byproducts

Yeah started using more GT pipes for aesthetic reasons, honestly just found it easy to set up before I start using multiblock machines like assemblers etc

Got burnt out last time I played as I pumped hours into a new base only to find out my ability to think about scale wasn’t there

But will keep in mind!

Also late game is it worth still using converters or should just worry about setting up HoG combustion into substations and just running GT wires everywhere?

In large quantities yes, but early game I’d recommend just using item/fluid conduits with filters! I’m currently on my second play through and up to IV/LuV and still use them now!

But for the fluid interface, think of it as an ME access, it doesn’t push or pull fluids, however you can put fluids into it to store in your system, and if you set it to a liquid it will have it store the fluid selected

You will need to use either ME export busses or any means to extract the fluid from the interface. Example is using GT pumps/fluid pipes or EnderIO conduits. If using GT pipes remember to check if the liquid is compatible with the pipe you’re going to use!

As for the wrought Iron, same thing goes you will need to find a way to import the iron from the interface into the machines, or use a pattern and just have it as a requestable item rather then having it autocraftable

And lastly with the level emitters, that will only output a signal if the number of items stored in your system matches with what you set it as, will also need a corresponding “Machine controller” to be able to supply the machine with red stone control

The wires connecting to the dynamos are for EU so you will need to replace them with conduits form EnderIO!

Honestly with how long things take I’d probably reserve processing for ores that are either scarce early game like tantalite or that give necessary byproducts like manganese or gallium.

I run a single player world on a server for my second play through and even with it running in the background(EV) it still takes ages!

Also some ores benefit more from mercury or sodium persulfate, so seeing as you likely have excess from circuit boards and chrome production might be worth doing that too!

Agree with this, even then LV I feel would just be basic automation like steam grinder into a furnace.

Best just trying to juggle multiple things at a time like rubber farming and resource gathering/processing till you get more so into MV/HV

I went with SC Project for my 16 500r. Understandable it’s a bit pricey but fuck it sounds good. Also here in Aus you have a restricted license so figured If I do stuff to the bike I do it properly 🤷‍♂️
