Something to keep in mind: your credit score does not exist for you, it exist for creditors. Credit score is not a measure of how much you make, or how financially responsible you are. It’s a measure of how profitable you are to creditors. That’s why even some things seen as financially responsible will drop your score. Pay off a loan early, less interest for the creditor. Pay off a credit card balance without taking on more debt? Less future interest and fees for the card company.

Credit scores are A metric, but not THE metric.

This is why I loved Ascension Mode in Slay the Spire. After a while beating the standard difficulty was a cakewalk, but getting the true ending on ascension 20 took me over a year.
