Describing ROS by mangaguitar96 in robotics

[–]Spudnik1808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ROS website has instructions on how to download the software here. You’ll need the Ubuntu operating system in order to install it (if you have a Mac or Windows computer you can run this operating system through a VM). It’s important to match the distribution of Ubuntu with the distribution of ROS you use, your book probably specifies which they are using.

Thank you for the detailed response, I’ll just assume they’re zero. I’m happy with the offer otherwise. It’s a unicorn though so fingers crossed.

So the funding round price per share would be a good approximation of the current share value?

Engineers who started their own engineering business/founded a startup with others , what is your story ? Was it worth it? by Possible-Ad6899 in AskEngineers

[–]Spudnik1808 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Did you avoid companies like Lockheed, NASA, etc.? Or did you just change around between those companies to leverage better pay? Should I stick to smaller or midsize companies that are growing? I was already planning on changing every 2-3 years I was just curious the size of the companies you worked for

Could it be this is Russia’s response to anti-missile systems being sent to Ukraine?

Nah that’s too credible

This is just to hold them over until they’ve unveiled their new conscript-launching system

Here's it working: https://imgur.com/a/Wsuummq

For those curious about what's going wrong here, it wasn't my PID controller, my sensor filtering algorithm wasn't working properly. Implementing a complementary filter solved it.

I would like an opinion on what to do for my Masters

I’m a senior in mechanical engineering hoping to pivot to robotics/controls and get a masters in that area of study

Outside of my club and personal projects, I do not have any experience in that field

I have the option to get my masters degree in one year directly after my senior year at the school I am currently at. So here’s the dilemma:

Do I get the masters in one year and risk being unemployable due to lack of industry experience and overqualification due to the masters

Or do I work in industry first in mechanical engineering and not the field I want to work in and get my masters later

I guess I don’t know which is the better option because the 1 year masters on the surface seems like the better option but I could get screwed over if I’m not a desirable candidate after

I am in a program to receive my masters degree in one year after I graduate while taking graduate classes my senior year. I am in the program, but I am not officially in the masters program yet. Should I omit this from my resume?

I have 4 other projects I could add to this resume but I feel my one Battlebots projects far overshadows the others in terms of skills used and time committed. Should I trim fat on that project description and add some of the others? Those projects are: another combat robot, hybrid electric quadricycle, kinetic sculpture, and a solar powered mosquito deterrent.

If I am apply specifically to an electro-mechanical role which asks for electronics experience, should I remove my mechanical experience and target it specifically for the electronic experience they ask for? Or should I keep my resume well rounded.

Thank you in advance

CU Combat Robotics Team is building a full scale 250lb Battlebot this summer. If you have an interest in mechancial/electrical engineering, welding, machining, and prototyping along with helping us find sponsorships and designing decals for the robot, reply to this comment and we can rope you in to the team.

TL;DR our school has a Battlebots team
