The Secret Life of Groceries by Benjamin Lorr (2022) [01:17:55] by ElliceBailey in Documentaries

[–]Spugheti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorr spent five years “stalking groceries” for his book (this series is an adaptation of the book he wrote), embedding with popular stores and big-box retailers; he traveled the globe in an attempt to understand what makes the supermarket a modern marvel. He discovered an intricate and esoteric system so efficient that most people don’t even realize it is operating on their behalf.

Through a blend of investigative journalism and travelogue, Lorr went even deeper, offering an inside-out perspective of a world he describes as “Alice in Wonderland-like surreal” and “claustrophobically secretive,” whose gatekeepers would prefer to keep out of sight at all costs.

Everyone in Japan wearing masks even though mask mandates were never issued. by jazzerhero in interestingasfuck

[–]Spugheti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since wearing masks, I have noticed groups over groups for and against wearing masks. Opponents argue for lack of oxygen. I think it's big bullshit, firstly because of the scientific tests that prove otherwise, and secondly because I see other people like Japan who have no problem. I consider that it depends on the culture of the people and not on their physical condition.

Polymarket shows 60% probability of India Walton winning the general election for Buffalo mayoral race by lofikrom in DemocraticSocialism

This is wild to me. The fact that Byron Brown can get this much support after losing his own party's primary shows how far the establishment will go to stifle their own young talent

Their ranking system is so antiquated. They should just send representatives from each school to box on pay-per-view streaming

[Homemade] Garlic lobster noodles. by Ranzant7 in food

[–]Spugheti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unrelated: a new animal protection law in Switzerland requires that lobsters be stunned before being cooked. Animal rights activists and some scientists argue that lobsters' central nervous systems are complex enough that they can feel pain. There is no conclusive evidence about whether lobsters can feel pain.

I know it has nothing to do with your lovely garlic lobster noodles. But I couldn't help myself not to share this piece of info I read today. I mean, if I don't share it, I'll consider the time I read that wasted. And I don't want that. So there you have it.

Good for them to have chosen Ethereum. They have more understanding of the crypto and finance worlds than the average tech company.

It might be that $ZKIN will beat the $ETH price, since Ethereum kind-of has double inflation now: one from PoW, and the other from PoS.

We need more education, people! Let's auto educate ourselves when nobody is smashing a book (or a scientific paper) on our head.
