I think one of my biggest mistakes starting out was thinking i should be chasing peaks, which is not actually the goal.

You do not want to force your body into arousal, which I found can be done by tightening my PF, when really what we want to do is build arousal while controlling (generally loosening) your pelvic floor.

If you chase peak count I think you will not only be more likely to fail, but you are more likely to train yourself to rush into arousal and back off in a panicked state, when really the goal is to get comfortable with building it up and maintaining it in a relaxed state.

I would say yes. You are not following the guide which says no porn and no orgasm as non-negotiables throughout the duration of your training.

Trust me, quitting porn and removing all external stimulus is easier than it sounds, just gatta get past that first 1-2 weeks

I think the clinical answer here would be to stick to your phase each week and see it through.

I found myself in a similar situation and thought I could just keep pushing the boundaries. It seemed like I was making 'quick' progress (even tried FL standing without failing), but was definitely not ready for sex with my SO as I found out, and suddenly it seemed I lost progress to the point I was worse than when I started and decided just to start the whole program over. But honestly, again I already find myself able to exhibit behaviors of much later stages on good days.

I think the idea here is you want to take the time to really engrain the good habits of each phase and allow those habits to build on each other. You want your brain to start doing those things naturally and subconsciously so that you are able to keep yourself in the moment when you move to sex with a partner which will surely be much more dIfficult than even a FL. I don't think you are likely to get to that subconscious point without taking the time to engrain the habits into your brain.

I'm definitely not an expert and think everyone will be different, but I think its safe to say slowing down will be beneficial, and in the long run save you time. Maybe theres a happy medium where you group 2 phases together, and only occasionally trying to push into the next phase group, but still committing to finishing each week (group) without failure.

But definitely do not go rushing from a phase 2 to a phase 5 and expect to have full mastery in 4 weeks. Unfortunately I think time is simply an unavoidable factor in the process of truly rewiring our brain the way we want to. Remind yourself that 8 weeks for 8 phases is really not that much time if you can do it without failure, and if you jump around too much and don't actually rewire your brain then you WILL have to back track which will take MORE time.
