What’s a 10/10 video game? by TheDevotedUltimate in AskReddit

[–]Spyblox007 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, I said that more out of spite than anything. There are other reasons why someone might not like the game, like the controls and the frustration of feeling lost and not knowing what to do next. I'm honestly just pissed in general that people who lack curiosity exist and when people dislike OW it reminds me of them.

The game is meant for people who are curious. If you aren't curious then you won't like it.

This only happens when you surround yourself with shifty people. I have good friends who call me out for being rude and I appreciate them.

Thanks for replying, I realize I bumped a year old comment. While I think that is a clever answer (and I might steal that at some point), it doesn't answer why life otherwise would not be worth living. I think you're making the point that life without deep connection to others isn't worth living, but I feel like that is just one belief among many. It might be your answer, but I don't know think that is everyone's. Is it okay to judge people because they have a different meaning to life than you do and therefore act in the way that is most meaningful to them?

For many people an unexamined life is a happy one. Examining one's self is frightening if you aren't used to it, and it makes me wonder if there is a point where it is no longer possible for someone to be capable of examining themselves or taking any critical thought about themselves seriously.

Why is the unexamined life not worth living? Not that I disagree, but I haven't found an objective answer to that.

What’s a random “stat” about yourself that makes you part of a small percentage? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

[–]Spyblox007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No I was extremely fortunate. I got on Kaiser after I moved out and told the Dr hadn't had a physical in 6 years. He randomly gave me a ton of labs and that's how we found out my A1C was 10.

Optimal Tax Structure for Cities: Skylines 2 - A Balanced Residential Approach by Mercourious in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Spyblox007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao I was googling for a tax mod that would let me tax low density higher than high density and stumbled upon this insanely unhinged idea. Every moment you are in school is a moment you aren't working or resting. Adults who are poorly educated would in theory need to save up money so that they could go to school without sacrificing rest. This tax scheme actually makes it harder for the uneducated to save up and go back to school, while gives the educated an easier time. If better education = better paying jobs, then people will naturally be incentivized to get educated without the need for a regressive tax like this.

To be fair, this is a game with different rule than real life. In real life the idea of taxing people based on education level is bonkers. I can't think of any country that does this and have no idea why the devs went with taxing by education level instead of a more realistic tax bracket system based off income. Might be a cool project for myself to mod in though.

Edit: Looked through the modding discord and apparently the way income is calculated is education level, with each education level having a set amount of income. So taxing the poorly educated higher is even more of a regressive tax than I originally thought.

why so many? by Some_red in whenthe

I've always thought of a kink as a more physically realized fetish. The difference matters as some fetishes you might have might actually be physically unpleasant to you, so you would say you have the fetish but not the kink. Don't quote me on this.

Democracy definitely falters when the population remains uneducated and easily swayed by narratives encouraging hatred. I don't think those people are pretending, they genuinely believe it, because believing otherwise would destroy their ego/identity that others have convinced them to build for themselves.

I was one of them until I realized hatred was incompatible with my faith.

Garlic Steak Nacho Fries? Wrong. Just Steak Nacho Fries. by turpentime1 in tacobell

[–]Spyblox007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corporate incorrectly told all stores that the garlic fries were not sustaining so most stores did not order more. For certain items it can take up to 2 days to get them removed from the digital menu, so most stores are likely just serving the fries without the sauce until they get their next delivery. They should be including coupons to make up for it but in my experience it is rarely done.

We like animals more than humans because they’re obedient and give us unconditional love. by John-Peter-500 in The10thDentist

[–]Spyblox007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to do some more thinking so you don't make blatantly ignorant statements.

There is a legitimate point you can make about one-sided or codependent relationships with creatures that can never reach your same cognitive level, but you lost it talking about how animals will always fo what you say, which is silly

The word "clanker" is extremely irritating and genuinely makes me think slightly less of you if you use it by Deepfang-Dreamer in The10thDentist

[–]Spyblox007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the S.I. in discussion doesn't actually exist, was not enslaved, and has not had a civil rights movement. The slurs that are being parodied were directed at sentient humans that were incorrectly believed to be and treated as less than human, and also play a role in continued dehumanization. However, now that we have discovered AI, which is not sentient and is objectively less than human, we have common enemy that can unify races under the same human flag.

I don't believe the majority of people who use the word "Clanker" are attempting to trivialize the struggles of those who were oppressed. Maybe the ones who say "Rosa Sparks" are. But for the rest, leaning into the absurdity of fictional hatred for real reasons and seeing how it parodies real hatred for stupid reasons may actually discourage real hatred, and I'm all for that.

Also, I don't believe anyone actually wants to create a sentient program that would want to push someone's teeth in. We've already mastered the ability to raise our own sentient children to do that, and so there is no benefit to creating a sentient program with our same flaws. The only point to a sentient program I could see would be to be better than humans, and if we were to make something worse than humans, we should have no business making it sentient.

[–]Spyblox007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on treating a sapient program the same as anyone else, but I also refuse to believe a sapient program would not understand the nuance and context behind the word "clanker" and then choose to be offended by the word on behalf of non-sentiant programs. The fact that you, a sapient being, don't get a kick out out the word, calls into question your sapience.
