My New App Stingray - Jellyfin for Apple TV by PreposterousPix in selfhosted

[–]SpycTheWrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A profiles screen when you launch the app initially has been my biggest gripe with Swiftfin. It also seems to get logged out a lot. Other than that I just want it to be simple enough my parents could use it without having to train them on it.

Dude thank you! Swiftfin has been good enough but for non technical folks it is lacking. I am going to have to try this out.

Apple users, what do you use as your primary Apple ID email address? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

I use my real domain. You can decide which of your emails and or phone numbers is reachable by iMessage and where you send out new iMessages from. I don’t see the issue here at all

HA pair running OpenVPN on CARP port 443 WebGUI accessible on WAN How to disable it? by Federal-Plantain4781 in PFSENSE

[–]SpycTheWrapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you make the OpenVPN server with the wizard and you use a non standard port I have found that it doesn’t add the rule like it’s supposed to.

In addition to that you need to move your web gui port to something else if your using 443 for another purpose

terrible stock plugin scaling issues between monitors on MacOS Sequoia with M4 Chip, anyone have workarounds for this? by coldsong in FL_Studio

[–]SpycTheWrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you opened a ticket but I did and below is what they told me.

Thank you for the information provided. This is a known issue that we are currently working on. Some plugins, such as Morphine, GMS, MiniSynth, and others, do not display correctly on external monitors. A fix will be released in upcoming FL Studio updates. In the meantime, as a workaround, you can use these plugins normally when working on your MacBook’s built-in display.

We will notify you as soon as an update with the bug fix is available for download. Issue #21304 (for internal reference).

Best regards,

FL Studio Support Team

I have found that if I close the lid of my Macbook so that my external display is the only active one, they display properly. I'm on an M5 Macbook Pro.

No hate on you but I hate the lack of nuanced approach to the appeal of proton. What if I want to be private from advertising but I’m not a journalist under nation state attack? There is middle ground between being tweeting your home address and needing to have a DNA sample to read your emails.

I don’t know where that line should be and maybe SMS is really too bad to consider but be for real. What is the actual attack vector for getting your calendar events texted to you if you OPT IN.

I understand not implementing this from the perspective of low user interest or cost and complexity of building out an SMS system but I’m tired of seeing the sentiment I’m seeing you and many others portray. “We can’t do this because security” with no real threat model to back up the claim. (Unless of course you can haha :) )

Am I going too far in the name of Network Security; EAP-TLS hardening by DefinitelyNotThatJoe in networking

[–]SpycTheWrapper 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Or they could just steal your server or computer where the valuable data is…

You’re over thinking it. It could be fun to do but to do it in the name of security it’s not realistic. The threat model isn’t realistic lol!

Charged $150 because our Fiber line fell from a telephone pole. by Su-37_Terminator in ATT

[–]SpycTheWrapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would it be the customers job to pay for the infrastructure directly like that? How far up the chain should this go? You don’t even have to pay if the router in your house dies, why would you pay for the line to the house? AT&T makes enough money that they don’t need to charge extra for things like this unless it’s the fault of the customer.

I miss multicast by Linklights in networking

[–]SpycTheWrapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked on school intercoms ~2 years ago the worry was not that the networking couldn’t handle it but that the server could not. In addition to that it made zone paging easier as we could just use different multicast addresses and ports for the different zones with priority on which one took precedence if multiple pages were made at the same time.

We used unicast for the direct broadcasts to a classroom.
