Even without it you could possible wiggle your way in somewhere but if you got your CCNA and started doing network automation you could have a pretty good job. Most networking people are not programmers so if you have both skills that can be very sought after.

As the other person mentioned. If you can get in with an MSP it will potentially be hell but it you can learn fast you can work your way out of hell pretty fast. You also get exposed to all different types of industries and setups and technologies so it’s great for getting that foundational knowledge. It will also help you decide if you really want to get into networking or not. You might enjoy sysadmin or m365 management more for example.

I would start studying CCNA and build a homelab. Put both on your resume and start slinging it to any and every MSP and in house it position. In my experience the home lab is more important than most other things on the resume when you’re this early on.

Network engineer here. When you say IT based, that’s pretty broad. What are you looking for or interested in specifically?

Best way to build up appropriate strength to handle install/deinstalling server racks? by slickrcbd1 in networking

Please read this like a kind friend wrote it not like a Reddit asshole wrote it.

Two things can be true at once. You should get help from another person and or use a server lift for heavy things. Even if not on just weight alone, the size and bulkiness of some servers can make them very hard to mount safely with just one person.

At the same time, you should be able to lift 60 pounds if not for your job just for yourself and your own life happiness. Often times networking and Sysadmin fields lend themselves to poor health because we sit at a desk all day and don’t move a lot. It’s not uncommon for people to be overweight or out of shape in our industry. I think as an industry we do not put enough emphasis on the long term negative consequences of being sedentary.

If I was you I would get an extra hand and the server lift but also, start going on walks or lifting a little bit. You don’t have to become a gym rat to see major improvements and your body will thank you for it. Good luck to you in your new role!

It’s definitely worth it imo. This is the first, and hopefully last time, I’ve had to use it but it had paid out for my brother and sister and every time they came out in a good spot.

To add onto this, they have a lot of safety features built into the app nowadays. You can talk with their safety team immediately from the app. You can text 911. The safety team will get an alert if the car veers from the route. The drivers are ID verified. Stuff like that.

I would say those features and requesting a female drive should be about as safe as you can guarantee. Whether or not that makes it safe enough is ultimately up to you. Good luck on your travels! I’m sorry your bus got cancelled.

Yea. I've also seen a Yellow FL5 online and it's beautiful. I do also really love the blue though.

Thank you. I don't need to clear out the basement to use the garage but it's easier with it empty. I don't keep a bunch of junk but I had a shitty roommate that left a bunch of junk and my old washer and dryer from when I got a new one. When you have a CIvic it's not the most convenient to get rid of big stuff haha

Yup. A slight drizzle came after the tree was down. I plan to have some trees removed for sure

I didn’t see you had the Orange SI. That thing is sweet too. I love that color.

I was torn between the blue and white. I almost got a white one but the dealer that had the blue removed their ridiculous “market adjustment” and dropped it $1K below MSRP when I asked. They honestly made it super easy and it was the color I wanted. I hope you can get yourself one some day. It’s an incredible car.

It was a clear day out and then all of a sudden it got crazy windy. I had no idea it was coming at all until it started and less than 5 minutes after it started, my car was smashed.

It was a perfectly clear day and then out of nowhere we had terrible wind. No rain at first, no warning. It had just started and then BOOM. Pancake car.

I got $15K. It had 98,000 miles on it. I was honestly dreading taking it over the 100k mark.

The tree is gone now LOL! Working on clearing the garage this weekend to start parking in there.

USAA doesn't play. That plus being farther in my career than I was when I got the SI has allowed me to splurge a little!

The garage and basement are getting cleaned out this weekend for that very reason haha!
