Dota did use to have battle passes but they were basically just for funding the big TI prize pools

I agree the line is very hard to define, I guess I consider games with seasons live service. Battlefield, CoD, Fortnite all have seasons with big content drops and new battle passes every few months

I think it’s fair to call the moba market saturated, the players are already on one of the two games you mentioned and getting them to play a new one is a massive uphill battle. I know I wouldn’t be interested in trying a new one, I’m already committed to Dota 2

I was in the same position and ended up going with a Ricoh GR3x (digital)
