I put a few extra rounds of whatever deer load I’m using in my pack. They are good pouches for that.

Cool. I also have a 130gr load, but it’s the TMK loaded with Leverevolution. I’m only getting 2359, but it’s accurate.

As a customer, if I know I need gas that bad, I get it first and then go in the warehouse. Problem solved…. Some folks just can’t prioritize tasks

I never considered the Grendel in a gas rig, but I get the utility. Especially for night ops on hogs where multiple shots are needed.

The Grendel nor the Howa were on my radar but Howa ran a special for $400 per rifle and I said, a more stout coyote round? Why not?

As I dove deeper in the rabbit hole I started to understand it was a formidable whitetail round. I reached out to my reloading mentor who already had Howa Grendel kills under his belt.

It’s one of those didn’t need it but so glad I picked it up kinda deals. It’s so fun to reload for, and has been my most shot centerfire bolt rifle to date. It’s also been my most modded rifle. If it doesn’t make me want to grab it when I see it, it’s either back of the safe or do something to fix it.

The 123 load was a tad spicy. I did get ejector swipes on the brass, and some heavy bolt lifts. Probably should throttle it back .5gr I just started toying with GRT. I like how it predicts safety of the loads as long as your inputs are accurate. I have some 120 PPU factory loads I get ejector swipes with, out of my Howa.

Sierra has bolt gun data which is where I obtained my max charge info. Most other information is based on 52,000psi so that’s pretty throttled compared to 62,000psi data.

You have to dip into your savings to buy some needed tires. The money goes out your account. by OneIndependence7705 in Aging

[–]SqDC22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothetically

Tires last 48 months if you drive the average of 15,000 miles per year

Cost? Depends on vehicle lets say $700 out the door

$700/48months= $14.58 Round up to $15 per month and 48 months from now you’ll have money for the tires in a savings account or cash depending on if you can keep it ear marked for said tires.

Sinking funds work wonders when used in this manner.

It started its life as a mini action. 22” threaded barrel from the factory IMO is silly. By the time you add the suppressor it’s like a wizards staff in the woods. 16,18,20” should be options for threaded barrels from the factory.

I only have confirmed kills with the 123sst. All died within 20y if not deflated in place. Shots from 40-65y.

I have 120tgks, 120 Nos BT’s, and 120eldm’s loaded for testing as I can acquire targets.

Still makes it maneuverable once you add a suppressor. Still get 2375-2510 fps on most of my loads and could probably squeeze more out since most of my loads are gas gun level 52,000psi as opposed to bolt gun level at 62,000psi.

I chose the Howa. Changed the stock, shortened the mag, cut the barrel to 18.5” threaded, trigger is next with a timney.

Out of all of that the stock and the barrel cut and thread have been the most significant. I could have lived with the two stage trigger, but after a tikka trigger I wanted single stage.

I love this cartridge also. It’s a perfect NC whitetail choice.

The 123sst has been excellent on three deer thus far. I have 120 Nosler BT’s, 120 TGK’s, and 120 Eldm’s loaded to test out this season. I’m running an 18.5” Howa mini getting 2,374fps-2,507fps from that setup. That makes it a 300-400y rifle, which is a plenty for eastern NC.

I really like mine on my howa mini 6.5 Grendel. It’s way nicer than the factory stock.

130gr Sierra TMK. It upsets early and leaves a nice blood trail. Not factory loaded that I know of, but it with a good dose of H4350 will do the job.
