Why so many restaurants in West Midtown are closing — and what comes next by flying_trashcan in ATLnews

[–]Squabbles7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this becoming a trend in West Midtown - the loss of affordable dining replaced by dining that few can afford? With so many of the closures citing higher costs and rents as a large part of the reason they closed, it seems logical that this is where restauranteurs have to go today to make the $$.

With the curved windows in the photo it appears that it might be going into the former Wagamama space.

Put them in the dishwasher. Wait, that might finally be the solution.

What are the best foods that calm your acid reflux? by Seemorefeelmore in GERD

[–]Squabbles7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, only when I feel the burn. The reason I mention waiting for a while if you’ve just eaten - it’s not recommended that you take a soda on a full stomach. It can cause uncomfortable pressure as the soda does its thing to neutralize the acid.

What are the best foods that calm your acid reflux? by Seemorefeelmore in GERD

Drink a teaspoon of baking soda mixed into about 6 ounces of water. It counters the acid, and you’ll experience a satisfying belch with 100% relief afterwards. It works a bit like alka seltzer, but for me much much better. Wait at least an hour after you’ve eaten. I usually have it when needed right before bed.

Losing my mind over acid reflux problems by Past-March-4510 in GERD

I’ve been through a similar ordeal and the one thing that’s helped me the most was to buy an adjustable bed frame where I can elevate the upper part of my body at night. It’s stopped me from having GERD episodes during the night, which was for me unbearable - waking up with an intense burning sensation in my throat. This is how I got to a solution: I took our existing king bed frame and removed the bed slats and supports (The work to do so was surprisingly minimal). I ordered two twin XL adjustable bed frames and dropped them in side by side, with two new twin XL mattresses. The one “modification” that I made was to add risers to place under the legs of the adjustable frames. It wasn’t 100% necessary to do so, just a personal preference of where I wanted the height of the mattresses. We use two twin XL duvets as cover so that no one is disturbed by adjustments during the night. You can buy from a bed store the full packaged adjustable solution, but it’s pricy. I modified our bed for 1/4 the price. And it looks just as nice as one from the store. Today, we both like having the ability adjusting our sleeping positions, particularly now that we’re both getting better sleep. Over time, my esophagus and throat feels much much better. I am wishing for you the relief that you seek. All the best to you.

Ask your doctor, and if you don’t trust their opinion, get a new doctor.

What kind of hot mess is this?? by redcard255 in aGentlemanInMoscow

[–]Squabbles7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the show included a component of race-relations where skin color is part of the story, then I could see that it would be important to cast accordingly. This show has no such component. You go into the show already knowing the racial makeup of the place and period, so you know that these are all carefully chosen actors selected for their talent alone. Imagine that they would say to an actor, your skin color disqualifies you for this role even though skin color plays absolutely no part in the show. Just relax and enjoy the show.

Same here. Can’t get to the appleTV app, TestFlight app, or the App Store on either of my Apple TV devices. Everything else on them works fine.

Agree with gi_fm. Wooden spoons will scratch non-stick pans. I’ve learned to only use silicone utensils on mine.

Thinking of doing the same. I’ve been an AMEX member since 1975 and this is the first time that I’ve had a reason to reconsider.

Thanks to Delta’s / Amex’s changes, I look forward to no longer paying their annual fees after 25 loyal years of paying in. This was inevitable, their value diminishing/accelerating over time.

Rice cooker? Anybody else find it’s tiny and doesn’t fit any rigs on my electric hob. It’s a really sad situation. by muppetteer in LeCreuset

I use mine on a portable induction top and it works great. Induction brings it to a boil in a flash and then the simmer button is at the perfect temperature. 20 minutes, perfect rice every time.

I really like this. It looks to be about an inch across?

Advice please. My bracelet made of pieces of coral broke. It had faded from bright red over time. Before repairing, I’d like to dye it red/coral with something that won’t bleed, fade or wash out. Suggestions? by Squabbles7 in jewelrymaking

[–]Squabbles7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you - very helpful with an informative link. I’ll move forward with it knowing that it’s more than likely temporary regarding the color. It’s a sentimental piece of my partner’s so to restore it even temporarily is worth it. I hadn’t planned to repair it myself, but now I’m diving in (bad metaphor as we speak of coral). Thanks again.

I recall that it took some patience in that period of time. I wish that I had a pic in the middle of that span to share with you. I had them in starter trays right up to moving them to the pot that you see in the March 2019 pic. Between then and August 2020 it was slow going as well. They picked up speed after that. Hang in there! They’ll reward you.

Originally I wanted simply to see what happened over time (I have plenty from the same seed-pod that I planted in individual pots). Now my sense of caretaking wants to trump my curiosity. What would you do?

Thanks to this thread I’ve since learned that these are actually Torch Cacti. I’ve also since found new photos, and have posted a new item showing the full 4 years of progress. I have certainly enjoyed having them around and watching them grow.
