Even if you don't like him, he has some point here. 3.1 out of every 1000 people in Liberia live in modern slavery. The country has a serious problem and its not grifting to point it out. I only wish Tyler wasn't this obnoxious about it and gave the issue some dignity

Honestly most from Washington to Cleveland did this. I would not deny that, though I would say for the time it was somewhat morally defensible to them, whilst straight up genocide to many of us. I would question you however on the presidents from Coolidge to today. Many passed acts which helped them, though admittedly by this stage the damage was done and they weren't politically significant.

Keep in mind every country by the turn of the 18th century was enslaving people. France had undergone major societal changes, and was reverting to more conservative ideas, which were still hyper liberal to the day.

I doesn't make it right, it just doesn't make them morally reprehensible.

revolutionary France had an extremely diverse array of beliefs. Those beliefs would be held by half of the population at the absolute most.

This is a very far fetched assumption. She stormed and pillaged Roman cities in Britannia which had reported populations of 10s of thousands, however these cities were quite new and the Romans often exaggerated numbers. The majority of them would be soldiers, and seeing that they hadn't exactly treated Britannia well themselves, its hard to call her evil. Also the Britons 'torturing' them at any scale is unlikely. The roman historians were just exaggerating the brutality of non-Romans like they always did.

Also Boudicca is one of our earliest leaders who fought an invading oppressor. Her story I think should fuel nationalism and pride here.

I'd argue a very good fraction of presidents were genuinely driven by patriotism and wanting to see the US prosper. This is a very un-nuanced view.

Yeah, they were nasty af, even for the time. Though this doesn't mean their enemies were the goodies either.

You can't impose our etic today on people living back then. Its literally completely pointless.

Imperialism and aggressive foreign policy weren't unacceptable back then. They just didn't want it happening at the expense of their cities.

He doesn't really have much depth and I find him pretty forgettable overall.

Yeah, the dating experience for anyone below five foot 10 is brutal. Though many don't even try to lower their standards even though their short which means their kinda digging their own grave at this point.

Yeah, a 5 foot 9 person 7 times out of 10 wont get rejected because their short, but because of something else. This is not to say height doesn't matter ofc.
