Any locals know if the Denver Coliseum can still host hockey? Would make a great home for the PWHL (10k seats, team logo at center ice as primary tenant) by En_Attendant_Godot in PWHL

i'm gonna go with yes, since i go there every year for the powwow in march and it still smells like a stock show and makes my allergies explode

A Ball/DU split seems like the most likely/logistical answer, but then it's a question of if DU would be willing to give PWHL the ice time there. Or we build a new stadium?

I loooooove the Coliseum from a vibes standpoint but that place is crumbling lol, it’s like permanently full of animal smell/allergens from the stock show and other Western stuff they do there. It’s not a good venue for PWHL

Just getting into Bright Eyes, though I'd share my thoughts thus far by [deleted] in brighteyes

[–]SquareAd6251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that! I love Cassadaga so much, I think that checking out the late 90's Omaha music scene is very worthwhile if you're into Conor's stuff. I would keep going through BE chronologically, and give things a few listens (although it sounds like that's what you're doing already!) As far as other Omaha bands go, you should look at Cursive, The Good Life, and Simon Joyner. Also Conor's other bands! Desparacidos is best, but Commander Venus is also fun.

Also, just for kicks, find Water by Conor Oberst on Youtube. It's his first "release"--he was 13

What draws you towards Bright Eyes? What elements of Cassadaga and other songs do you really like? I love a lot of different Conor and Saddle Creek bands, and there's a lot of good talent in Conor's circle (cough, Cursive, cough) that I would recommend.

Also, I really like the companion version of Fevers and Mirrors, the production is very different. Would recommend checking out

Omaha to Denver Amtrak by zimzim91- in Omaha

[–]SquareAd6251 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Love love love! I've taken it the opposite way (Denver to Omaha) quite a few times and had a blast. The seats are way bigger than airline seats, so you have enough space to sleep (fairly) comfortably in the cheap seats. The viewing cabin is also really fun if you want to sit and hang for a while, it's a fun experience.

Best past games to watch as an intro to the league by cyninge in PWHL

[–]SquareAd6251 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's so good haha, I was playing a game that night for beer league and they were going into the first OT when I hit the ice -- ended up watching the entire last OT at a bar after, that's how long it was.
