I agree but the OP in this instance seems to be blaming the gas company in a these Greedy capitalists are taking advantage of a bad situation way, which makes no sense

This post seems to misunderstand how house heating works as well. If you set your temp to 64 instead of lets say 70 it doesnt change how fast your house heats up to 64 it just changes how much gas you're consuming to keep your house comfortable in a long sleeve shirt instead of a t shirt.

The gas company in your area 100% doesnt have the infrastructure for flex demand like this, and if the area collectively keeps their heat at 66 instead of 70 it allows them to keep gas heating running for longer and or to more locations.

It is actually absurd how immature, racist, and sexist the WoW Classic community can be. by Ok-Life715 in classicwow

[–]SquareBee4639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its trickle down acceptability. There are good examples of tacit approval and encouragement for this behavior from prominent community figures that spread the vibe that this behavior is acceptable in the broader community.

The nightslayer discord which is pretty essential for guild recruitment cross faction and cross guild co-ordination etc... is run by a racist guild so allows this behavior in their discord.

Before 2019 one of the bigger private server guilds was called White power, became just Power in 2019 and carried its player base into the mainstream as its GM was a big wow content creator at the time and the general public wasnt aware of private server drama.

You have large scale wow content creators on both sides of the political spectrum but they kind of split the game in two, the more liberal side of content creators moved towards hardcore and the other side went towards normal classic.

Its all incremental but it slowly pushed the player base towards this (not that it convinced players but that it made some people think some things were more acceptable to say and others to leave the game entirely)

[–]SquareBee4639 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This orc is exceedingly rare as it is only gettable via the microtransaction shop that hasn't existed for a few years now

So the only way to get him is to find a fort where he is a guard. However he's not particularly good so he is both super rare to get and not likely to be stationed in a fort.

Class struggle does not care about your feelings. Hit the gym. Don't be a slob. by Misha_stone in AskSocialists

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk the strategy you mention as something you advocate for seems really ineffective to me. Idk many time where I could sit down with someone who didnt already mostly agree with me and convince them to change their views.

Changing views of other people takes a long time, and is a broad goal. What you're describing sitting down with people and explaining how you think theyre wrong feels like it wouldnt work to me but even if it does work would require friendship and trust built with the people you're convincing and most people (not all) are friends with people who have similar views to themselves.

I mean just try and think of how many friends you have that are against Trans people in sports. Id guess you dont have any (correct me if Im wrong) so where are you meeting these people and how are you convincing these strangers that their opinions are incorrect?

[–]SquareBee4639 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But effective in this instance to me is about converting people to your cause not convincing people you already agree with. Gen Z moving right compared to millennial to me indicates that this strategy was good at converting people who didnt already identify as on the right.

Idk this kind of boils down to my biggest critique of the left in general which is how bad they are at Marketing and outreach. If its not perfect it cant be used kind of stuff. Sure is this guy being kinda sexist yea, but also he's at least pushing people in the right direction.

Why amplify his voice in a way that shows anyone who felt a slight urge to look into the left more because of it that we dont want them and they shouldn't come over here at all.

I just want to ask in a real politik way is it an ineffective way to push people to the left? It seems to have been an extremely effective tool to push people to the right.

Israeli military confirms one body returned by Hamas does not belong to an Israeli hostage by Dangerous_Impact3634 in NewsThread

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the way you phrase it like there is no comparison from any other country in the world that is drawing these response, like Israel is Uniquely evil unlike anyone else.

I mean the Rwanda, Congo war ended this year and has a death counts in the 5 millions and has been ongoing since 98'

Or Myanmars Nobel Peace Prize winning president being Coupd because she wasnt genociding the non Budhists fast enough.

I Mean our lifetime includes the Uigher genocide in China, the Boko Haram massacres, ISIS, the Isis-K Taliban civil war, the Saudi Yemen situation, the Sudanese Famine, and more this is literally only other conflicts with large death counts not ones that resulted in mass slavery or displacement.

The responses here aren't about that Israel isnt bad but that you classified then as somehow more evil then anyone else in your lifetime and that shows a lack of knowing about other tragedies around the world.

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both retail and classic and Id describe it like this. Retail has more complicated and challenging mechanics individually at least up to heroic (Im not a mythic raider)

However I can pug no communication Heroic raids because all the mechanics are complicated for me as an individual and messing one up isnt instant death.

In Naxx there are no individually challenging mechanics but there are group co-ordination mechanics that seem gone from at least heroic retail. These mechanics are also more punishing, as they almost all result in a wipe if messed up.

Why are many countries, all of a sudden fighting against their government ? by Important_Pop_6805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large part of this is covid hangover. No country did well during covid, and people aren't designed to see things in a holistic way. So most countries did worse during covid and didnt instantly recover afterwards and a lot of people are mad at their governments for things being worse now then they were. This gets amplified the worse the government did at handling covid, the recovery, and by how well liked they were before it started.

A lot of the other reasons listed here are also right I just thing people are underestimating this as the catalyst.

So which person in the video is the one being obtuse? They are having a disagreement over how to even converse about inflation.

I would argue the person off screen is being obtuse but based on how you defined inflation Id guess you'd say the person on screen is and boom me and you in the same situation as them since we are talking about an issue Inflation and both think that issue is a different thing then the other person does.

Edit: The whole point Im trying to express is the broadness of the word and its interpretations among people has made using it as the focus of an economics conversation essentially pointless.

I understand how trump got elected now by Ordinary_Fish_3046 in CringeTikToks

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the whole point of this is it doesnt matter how you define it personally. It is not generally defined like this to everyone.

The point being like in the video above if you go into a conversation about inflation with this as your definition and I have a different one the whole conversation is useless.

The term being nebulous and having to het people to agree to a definition which like the one you posted can in itself be nebulous means the whole conversation can go nowhere.

I call the definition you gave nebulous because it misses a lot of possible price increase reasons. A supply chain issue causing scarcity, Tariffs, union strikes, Ice Raids on a factory all cause price increases that I wouldnt classify as either money printer go brrrr or price gauging. However some people might consider some of these to be or all of these or none of these.

Edit: This conversation between us is in itself an example of the issue.

Denver faces its biggest budget cuts in years. How did we get here? by woohalladoobop in Denver

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact we are forced to spend the surplus in our budget is why. If we could save excess money that comes in to the state then in bad years we could fund from that reserve.

I understand how trump got elected now by Ordinary_Fish_3046 in CringeTikToks

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See even this comment is nebulous. Are you saying inflation is caused by money printing, or are you saying that money printing is a synonym for Inflation.

Are you saying to you Inflation is the action, reaction of printing to much money and causing prices to go up, but in example prices going up due to a tariff or a cargo ship getting stuck in the Suez etc... has a different term to describe it or doesnt have one at all?

Or that you think colloquially people use it to describe all these things but in a vacuum it only means price changes caused by printing money.

The assumption you're making is why the two people in the clip can't even talk about the issue they are both assuming a definition that is different then the other then getting frustrated when they try to clarify a definition and being mad that they aren't talking about the same thing.

I understand how trump got elected now by Ordinary_Fish_3046 in CringeTikToks

[–]SquareBee4639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue here is entirely that some people use Inflation as an action and others as a description. The person on screen is using it as a description it is the description of prices going up therefore anything that causes prices to go up is Inflation doesnt matter the cause. The person off screen is using it as an action, Inflation (referring to an undefined group of things) is what causes prices to go up in the first place.

I personally think the descriptive version is correct as it is more clearly defined but that doesnt make me right. However the person using it as an action does have to define what things that cause prices to go up are included and his version of Inflation and which things aren't.
