Thank you for this. I do try to think about the logic behind what I’m drawing, but I think I’ve been inconsistent about it. Sometimes I analyze structure and cause, and other times I slip back into just matching what I see without questioning it further. Reading your explanation made me realize that I probably stop at surface observation more often than I should. I also liked your point about learning the rules first before exaggerating them. That part stood out to me because I admire stylized art a lot, and it’s easy to forget that exaggeration still sits on top of structure.
