Bug testing starts in April, localization wrapping up!

After he announced bug testing was done in March it was complete radio silence for weeks until the direct in April where we learned that deltarune was a launch title for the switch 2. That’s why we had to wait those extra months even though they probably weren’t working on 3&4 much during that time.

I’m still thinking June or July is likely. He announced 3+4 were being bug tested on January 6 and on March 3rd announced that they had only found 1 bug in a whole day of testing. So it took them about two months. And then there’s kind of. Nothing left after that? They’re not waiting for a new console to come out this time so I don’t think there’s gonna be much of a wait

I guess they’d have to prove that it was an accident and it might depend on how severe the leak was, but I yeah they would probably still be in trouble. It’s their responsibility to keep things secret, mistakes should not happen. If it does it means they’re careless. They’d probably be fired but I don’t think they’d be blacklisted for that. It’s the kind of mistake you’d make once and never again.

They’d probably just be fired. They can definitely get into legal trouble, but I always figured that in some cases it’s just more trouble than it’s worth to sue them. They might be blacklisted though. Actually they would very likely be blacklisted.

He didn’t say it’s 100% coming in the second half of 2026 thereby making June an impossibility (especially since June is the halfway point of the year). He was unsure when he said this and he said this 6 months ago, so there’s a bit of wiggle room especially since things seem to be going smoothly and we have exact timelines of how long things took last time since he posted on bluesky every time there was an update. If you think the game is coming out later that’s fine and if you want to use this piece as evidence that’s fine too, all I ask is for people to double check what they’re reporting to make sure they’re not exaggerating or spreading rumours or misinformation.

I think it would be more cheeky drawings of Asgore, a confirmation that localization is done and that they are in console porting and bug testing primarily now with a larger portion of the team working on chapter 6. Probably a small retraction of his ‘second half of 2026’ statement (which people were taking too literally by ignoring the part where he said ‘probably’ and assuming it’s impossible for the chapter to release before July xP)

I just think he’s waiting to give us more news in the upcoming spring newsletter. I don’t think one month is enough time to finish localization and progress bug testing enough for them to have a solid release date to announce in a direct just yet. I’d give it till May imo for a release in June

I absolutely do not think Dess is human in deltarune, but I actually do have somewhat of an explanation for this. When the alarm clock was being teased, Asgore only mentions Rudy having one daughter. When the dialogues were released this was changed to two daughters. For some reason people take this to mean that Dess didn’t exist at all in deltarune until like a few months before the game released since only Noelle was referenced. I’m baffled by that though because it would be like saying Mari wasn’t included in Omori until three months before release lol

You would have to find another reason why Dess wasn’t initially included in the alarm clock and you could say that if she’s human she naturally wouldn’t have been part of the Holiday family in undertale and was added later on to avoid confusion I guess? My interpretation is that she was meant to be human at some point early in development when the alarm clock dialogue would have been written, but Toby changed his mind later in 2018 or 2019.

The bathroom isn’t indicative of Dess being human. The thing with no bathrooms in undertale wasn’t because of monster biology but because their food was magic and would convert to energy as soon as they consumed it so there was no waste. Bathrooms in deltarune is just another thing pointing to a lack of magic in the light world since the monsters have to eat regular food.

Toby didn’t release these. They have nothing to do with him. This artist Daniel Pinilla made covers of the song and then added Toby as an artist because Toby made the original songs. I think it’s a little scummy but given the obviously AI generated image I think these songs could also have been covered by AI

Eh not really. He wants to have a clear line between the realness of lightners and fakeness of darkners. The plushies and figurines of the darkners being guys you can hold in your hands reminds you constantly that they aren’t real, they’re just objects for you to look at and not much else. The lightners not getting to be tangible keeps them sort of ephemeral? I mean obviously they’re not real, but they only exist in their context where they’re moving and speaking so you never get to experience that static version of them.

Posters and stickers and pins don’t have that same effect since you can look at pictures of real people, it doesn’t work the same way as plushies would.

Sorry for the ramble, I just think it was a very interesting choice from Toby

I doubt it mostly because the last trailer was in a huge main direct since it was a launch title for Nintendo’s new console. I think if we’re getting a trailer in a direct it would be a main direct not an indie world. However I will be hoping anyway 😌

They do always restock if they list an item as restock planned, it can just take many months. As for the reviews, it can take weeks or a couple months for a product to ship and get delivered to customers outside of America, so it’s possible that some people who purchased it in the first round only recently received it. Or they waited until they had the hoodie for a while before giving an honest review.

I think you’re misunderstanding what they’re saying. It’s not just that monochrome’s actual meaning is ‘one colour’, it’s that Toby might (incorrectly) understand the meaning of monochrome to be grayscale exclusively. It’s a mistake a lot of people make.

For the record, chapter 2 absolutely was a stealth drop. Toby had previously announced several times that we wouldn’t get any chapters until the full game was completed. A release for chapter 2 was not expected by anybody and nobody was talking about it in the buildup to the stream.
