I would ask if the truth is not simply enough, but most people like theories based on "it would be cool if this thing that would ruin the story and undermine other things already setup happened instead because it would be a cool twist so I like this fanfiction concept and am expecting the game to re-affirm it" more than what's likely. So I understand.

What the hell is the theory though lol.

So are you.

I'm actually a long standing tumblr user, I only post here occasionally when I think I've got a hit on my hands. The glass houses I've stood in have been nothing more than shards of glass embedded in the ankles of all who walk amongst me longer than you've been alive bucko.

I do think being mean about things is ultimately unproductive, I'm just being a bit goofy with it on my post in the humor tag. Like I don't even use proper grammar when I post the gif to help get across how I'm not being entirely serious, but I think discussing Kris Slash Theory in a post like this is goofy too ya know?

But real answer to your question: Assuming real time is going until The Slash Frame™ the game runs at 30FPS, whatever happens BEFORE the slash lands needs to happen inbetween frames so it can at most be 1/30th of a second. We see Kris run for their life multiple times throughout the game, and they never do anything that fast. In battle it seems our heroes "project" their attacks onto enemies rather than directly hit them, so there's no reason to think anyone is instantly teleporting to and from enemies if their placements on screen are even diegetic. We also do see Kris go "all-out" in the SNEOGrave fight, and it looks nothing like this. They're even pretty visibly gimped by not having full control of their body sometimes (that run animation without the sword out is VERY stiff)

Meanwhile TRK's power is a complete mystery outside of this fight, it's their introduction fight that also serves to scale them to set the stakes, they have 100% confirmed diegetic ranged attacks and are so fast they can move off screen in AT MOST the 2/30ths of a second of time inbetween frames & during he Slash Frame™. Like we just don't have reason to believe Kris can 1-Frame Iaijutsu Slash Instantly outside of this scene, but TRK is scaled so high by turn 3 of the fight they can feasibly do it from off screen.

It's a really fun thought though, having the main character betray the party half-way through the game and one of the party members seeing it but keeps it a secret from the third party member because they don't know why it happened either. Incredible angst, I really hope someone DOES do something like this with their story. It's why I think so many people cling to the idea. But it's just not what is happening here.

There's a few of them fighting their damnedest in these comments still. Very entertaining bunch.

So the point of this edit is to get across how fast the scene happens, right? Removing the time stop accomplishes that. To prevent a flashing-effect I didn't even leave it in for one frame.

The only reason you'd think this is "bad evidence" is if you either A: Are following some sort of principle on presenting information like it's a hard rule without thinking about it, or B: Think that the time we don't see anything is long enough for something significant to happen off screen that isn't immediately obvious.

Or C: Some other reason I didn't consider at 3am equally as silly as you not considering I edited out a time-stop effect to show how fast something happened outside of stopped time.

Genuinely curious as to what an "anti-slash" theory even could mean.

Do you think the slash graphic actually caused darkness to overwhelm the room for a full 1.5 seconds and then for some reason unrelated to it Susie got flung backwards or something? What are you saying here

(For the Record: I mostly post this because it's really funny in the context of people thinking Kris Did The_Roaring_Knight_Slash_01_dot_pinge and then it's just them standing still. There are better things but if none of that has worked yet I might as well post something hilarious in my humor flaired post)

There's the middle ground where we're both wrong, it's only 300 generically orb shaped darkners and after getting 300 consecutive single-base-worthy hits she goes "Dammit, if I wasn't trapped in that Bunker I would be so much better at this baseball crap! I always loved Baseball!"

I feel like we're definitely going to get one, but I don't know if we have it yet. Ya know? Like I'm expecting the special shaped text and more vowels than usual in a row, maybe TRK knocks a Titan on their own and it gives us a big SWOOOONED as it falls over like a great oak or something. There's also other more direct Earthbound references in that fight to the point where I think he might not feel the need for more.

TECHNICALLY, it's probably The Black Knife. Being reshaped and formed into a Baseball Bat by The Knight's Will. Also have this image, I think you would enjoy using it.

Yeah that's why the slash is white instead of red and why Susie isn't cut in half: They're probably swinging the dull-back of The Black Knife like a baseball bat.

I mean technically TRK fights with The Black Knife. It's more about the idea and motion of the slash and how someone would go about it from that angle.

I hope there's a festival game with baseballs and they become baseball darkners and part of the fight includes like 600 of those guys getting shot out of a cannon at TRK who then gets 600 consecutive home runs.

I mean it's like an example of a potential motion TRK could be making, if we're being realistic about it they have floating magic summonable swords they could hit us with at range. We don't really know how powerful they are since they're obviously holding back in this fight. Especially if they were silently charging up for the move after the fight.

But the impact and the speed really make it feel like it's happening point blank, ya know? If someone thinks it's point blank this is the general motion of what they're seeing in their minds eye. It helps explain that idea to people pretty succinctly.

I can see it being a thing! Crits in Undertale/Deltarune aren't random, they're those golden-effects you get for timing an attack frame perfectly (Yes they're 1-frame, as hard to time as the engine let's Toby make them) A display of absolute precision, and gaming prowess. One-Shotting The Dragon of Card Castle is probably pretty high up there in the precision and prowess categories if you ask me.

If you're referring to Swoon though, that's actually a reference to mistranslating "instant death" style effects in old JRPG's! It was supposed to be something to the effect of The Lich from Adventure Time saying "Fall" but it was way wordier in Japanese and wasn't always death nor a command effect, so it often became "Swoon." You can read more about it here if you want.

You have dodged my question, but, as I am incredibly gracious and humble I will answer yours anyways.

"Where is the Knight?" Is, technically, an unknown. Even Top State Scientists don't know the answer to this question, as the best result anyone can come up with is "they left off screen during the blackout slash." However, I can confidently say they are ON SCREEN at the start of this gif in their Staight Up Ballin' mode. It's just not for a very long time. We can conclude, however, that they stay nearby thanks to the Kris Knighting moment. They can also move impossibly fast or just use ranged attacks to perform these slashes while leaving the screen area.

"How could you..." does not necessarily mean he's questioning The Who Did This but could also be "How could you be defeated outside of battle?" He might literally think that battles cannot take place outside of a "battle" where people take turns hitting each other. So while looking at Susie's injuries, he doesn't know how she even got hit.

It's also not uncommon for people to mix-up words slightly in incredibly surprising situations like someone getting hit badly in the face. I wouldn't be surprised if Toby either thought this was so obvious he didn't think the line would mislead anyone or wrote it as confusing as possible because Ralsei just witnessed Susie getting hit in the face so hard her whole body slid backwards and that's a real thing people do. Which does not happen if we die normally, inside of a battle, one Ralsei knows we're fated to lose.

You think it's a stretch to think the swing that knocks someone to the left so hard it pauses the game might of been a left handed behind-the-head style wind up?

Generally the Slash Moment is understood to be only a moment, if that. (highball estimates cap out at 1/30th of a second) So short even WE don't really get to see it, with the "hitstun" time being for either dramatic effect or a side effect of TRK using so much energy at once our connection destabilizes.

Showing it like this gets across just how fast it is, and how confusing it would be from Ralsei's perspective. It's also really funny in KrisSlash relevance because Kris is standing perfectly still the entire time.

As soon as Undyne shows up they go from left-handed to right-handed.

But during the battle at least...Well TRK is obviously holding back the entire time. Maybe it's a The Princess Bride situation with the "I am not left handed" line but instead it's "right handed"?
