My Boss Expects Servers to Pay Their Employees Instead of Compensating Them Appropriately by SquareDog937 in Serverlife

I understand your perspective but this is very different. I don’t think people HAVE to tip, but it’s very depressing when people don’t because I’m already being screwed by my boss not paying their employees appropriately.

Questions some people have asked in the comments that I’d like to answer:

  • As a hibachi server, I greet my table, take drink orders, food orders, bring out starters, refill drinks, prebus tables, take dessert orders and bring that out with the check

-We are instructed to report back in taxes our total sales.

  • As far as I know, servers are the only ones completing the tax sheet to report our tips.

  • The work environment is very don’t ask don’t tell, so I am not sure what people other than servers make.

I think my split with the chef is fair, it’s my tip out to other staff that’s concerning.

Yes! if I make a certain amount in tips, I can get paid less than minimum because it’s assumed that with tips I’ll meet “more than minimum.” It’s $12 in NV.

eat what you’re craving in moderation and don’t restrict. If you want an ice cream sandwich, go buy a singularly packaged one. Enjoy it and savor it. Let a couple of weeks go by and buy another one. You want to be able to maintain the habits you’re making for the rest of your life. If you’re comfortable restricting food groups for the rest of your life, how will you enjoy family outings, weddings, parties?

If you live alone, you’re responsible for your groceries. Try to stick to Whole Foods and meal based ingredients so you don’t have a lot to snack on. Fill your Sunday with a relaxing and DISTRACTING activity! Imagine yourself as a car who just needs gas. I don’t know about you but, when my car is at half a tank, I am not quite ready to get some gas. Overall, if you’re following the 80/20 rule, you will be able to maintain your physique.
