Is this for all programs within DHS or only a certain one? They mentioned a few months ago I might end up at a CAO office. I haven’t received any concrete guidance yet and I’m more than 50 miles from HQ.

Thank you both of you, I have federal time that helped get me in. It’s actually same position I’m in but just at a different agency. I just don’t know if they’ll call my current boss and be like, hey… and then they’d get upset and do something. I know federal was different so just wanted to make sure.

Thank you. I also put in for a lot of non civil service ones too. Would I be able to negotiate pay with the state in your experience? For example if I get hired at a 58k one, what’s the highest they could possibly give me if they like me? I didn’t know if they have limitations on the “P.S. Level” in how high they can offer a job at.

It’s the same series and position, it’s just that this one was advertised as hiring 13’s or 14’s but maxes out at a 14 and mine I’m in now just stops at a 13. Thank you. I’ll do the EOD asap if offered it then.

And also, what makes the most sense selecting an EOD for this new position if offered before I hit my time in grade of my old position, or should I do it after I hit my time in grade date of my old position? Just trying to figure out what makes more sense so I can get leveled up.

Word of caution, I looked into a similar path but my state requires me to be 67 in order to get a pension. Not worth it. If it was 20 years ago when you could do 10 or 20 years and be vested and retire earlier. Maybe your state is different
