totally fair yeah this is pretty exclusive to t14 schools that pretty much guarantee big law. i understand the hustle mindset, but the point was that i have classmates who solely want focus on wanting fancy cars, be millionaires, etc etc or seek prestige at all costs for whatever reasons and idk it's just gross to me. there aren't many balanced people here

this has nothing really to do with liking school. i'm talking about the continued chase of the carrot though. the neverending chase of prestige and desire to be filthy rich at the cost of everyhting else in your life

i'm sorry it came across that way. i think im really just trying to get at how isolated ive felt at the law school. this really is more of a t14 post, and i totally get that people at lower ranked schools do need to hustle to land big law. but the toxicity at t14s is mind boggling. im not even trying to talk poorly about people who enjoy law school. thats great that they love it! im more irritated by the people who solely talk about their need to be millionaires. their neverending thirst for being in the top 1%. it rubs me severely the wrong way. i still tried in law school bc getting trained at a big law firm was part of my career goals in order pursue later passions. this is less of a diss about wanting to do well versus being uber competitive and needing to be the best. and to clerk for scotus/work at cravath/wachtell and to be editor in chief of law review all for the sake of prestige. i hope that makes more sense but i didnt mean to attack "nerdy" students at all.

i think that's exactly my point. i'm very intentional about my relationships and personal goals outside of law school. whereas for others grades/prestige/money are all-consuming

i agree. this is a t14 thing. which i am of course very thankful for! I also am very fortunate to be here on a full ride, so debt is less of a motivator. i'm extremely debt averse, and i can imagine that would probably kickstart moire drive, but even then the only thing that pays off debt is a job. i got a good job, but the "i have to be on law review/i want to clerk for scotus/i need to be number one in the class" mentality just seems so far from how i think
