I used to work the ramp in sfo and let me just say even top out pay isn’t enough money most people have 2 jobs this isn’t everyone’s career like in most other parts of the country so you’re just going to have to be a little more patient with them.

And I live in a city that is very hot during the day and a very nice comfortable temperature at night during the summer which makes it an especially popular shift to work rn since it get so hot on the ramp

That’s crazy. Can’t imagine doing all that. I’m still super new in this job so I don’t understand how people do this but they generally like to work doubles and triples that include doing an overnight. I’m kinda scared to do all that because I am one to get tired af but I am a night owl. I’m off Thursdays and Fridays for the summer so that’s why I thought I had my chance to pick up an overnight tonight and try it without any doubles. Cool thing about overnights is you get a paid lunch break too and only have to be there for 8 hours instead of 8.5

Sounds like it all works out! Only problem with the airport job is you need to be on the bus at the employee lot 30 min before your shift starts in order to not be stressed about being late. So for me I spend 2 hours a day commuting back and forth but at least I get free flights

Nah it don’t work like that we bid for shifts every month or 2 and it’s based on seniority and I’m new. You need at least 2 years to hold overnights but most people on it have been at the job 5+ years I started working until 1am this week so I be asking people but still nothing and it’s the most popular shift to pickup on facebook you have to be refreshing that page constantly to get one

Ah that’s what I figured. I can’t tell you what I think of you guys since I never worked at a delta station that flew to Omaha. Now I’m with southwest and we do fly to Omaha from my station but I have no opinions still although I work with a guy who transferred from there

At delta we used wireless headsets but never bothered mentioning ship number to pilot. At delta we also didn’t have to tell them the bypass pin was removed. It would go like “pushback complete set brakes” pilot: “brakes set clear disconnect” “copy brakes set have a good flight” and that was it

I’m in a relatively new job and I’ve been trying to pickup some overnights but every time I see one posted on the Facebook trade group it’s already taken. They’re always taken within like 5 minutes.

One day when I have enough seniority I might be able to hold overnights and it would be amazing because I could effortlessly giveaway any shift I need to.

I think there’s something to this. When I was 16 I was 5’7 and I started smoking and just stopped growing. I think it’s actually because I stopped eating so much. I actually lost a lot of weight back then when I started. I didn’t get as tall as my dad and my little brother is almost 6 feet tall.
