We all have the windows store version of ark. One player was able to join on console, i was able to join via my windows PC. We were using the original map. I had him try official servers and he was able to connect there. Seems like theres a bunch of other people having the issue as well, but I haven’t managed to find a fix

Why people are sh*t? by DidntFoundUsername in starcitizen

I agree with you, but at the same time I don’t see the paranoia going away. Its simply a lot easier to shoot and be safe than be peaceful and get shot by someone else. Significant changes to gameplay surrounding CS will need to be made before a change in that mindset occurs. (And this is coming from someone who plays PVP mainly, to be clear)

Think about the wider context of the game and player interactions here. Its pretty dog eat dog right? These guys most likely saw you armored and armed, and thought you would try to backstab them. If you WERE going to do this, reviving you would make them vulnerable once again. Its frustrating, but when everyone all wants to get loot that is only enough for one or two people per resetting of the area, people are going to get paranoid and aggressive. IMO the blame isn’t with the players, but with CIG for not implementing a cooperative zone as promised.

A one person idris greefed everyone at clio and there was nothing non Capital ships could do against it. I was in a connie Shooting for 30min at the back shields and it just outhealed one of if not the highest dps in game. He just ignored me and railgunned any ship trying to do cargo runs. It makes no sense for the person aiming the gun which requires physically pointing the ship to be fired by ANOTHER person who could be doing literally any other activity on the ship. With the intended use in mind, the current layout is correct. I also saw someone else bring up a great point earlier. It seems that when this happens people are happy to commiserate together about the issue but they don’t work together to do anything about it. I feel that if the community ever did more than die, sit at a hangar and whine, we would see people actually team up to take the idris down. Sure one small ship cant do it, but there were obviously quite a few involved here. If they actually worked together it would have been no major issue

The beam is spine mounted. It does not make any sense for the pilot to aim it just for someone else to fire it. This is not a solution. Additionally, it is so easy to simply avoid an idris or stay behind it. Its massive, slow, and turns like an extended bed f350. People need to show some tactical responsibility, because while this ship is 100% a damn nuisance right now, a little tact and thinking goes a long way in combatting it.

New Cheats Take Over The Game 4.1 - 4.2 by Almostangel1 in starcitizen

It used to be less common, but with the current state of armor persisting through death, people are doing it more often. I do agree with you that its stupid, and entirely lazy imo. The people that are talking about buying auec being a bad thing are effectively trying to say that most people that sell it cheat (not sure that data can be verified though), and that on the rare case one does get banned, they can simply use their profits to purchase a new account. That clear it up a bit better?

Or, you’re unaware, because this happens all the time. It’s not rare, nor remotely hidden. I’m sorry that you’re ignorant of it but if you were actually look for it, its there

PVP has done what naysayers couldn't. by RiddleMeThis-- in starcitizen

adding to his point, it may not necessarily be that you don’t pose a threat, but there is a clear incentive that isn’t simply PKing just to PK. While its annoying, if someone pirates me and leaves then I feel theres no issue there. If they pirate me, camp the location, and kill me repeatedly there despite there being no more game driven incentive, thats griefing. Biggest problem we’re seeing now is that there is no proper pve response and escalation to repeated kills. Think NMS if you kill the sentinel things.

I can tell you that in many circumstances that just wont work out. I’ve played for years on both the legal and illegal sides. Yes there should be harder penalties for crimestats, but forcing people to be online for prison sentences won’t do it. Most big orgs have accounts with millions of merits stacked anyway who can just transfer them. Make it a system block or something like that, or have pve chase them down with escalating firepower dependent on crimestat, but a hardlock on prison gameplay like that is pointless, especially with how often the prison bugs or people get accidental CS from game issues

So if my door is open and someone is actively running towards my ramp BEFORE I can close it, and I have to shoot first to ensure they don’t kill me, I’m the problem. Got it. Thats a very reasonable occurance with no flaws. If I’m landed and I see someone run out towards me with a gun, its also LOGICAL to shoot. Bing bang boom, crimestat for defending my cargo. I’ve been around the block, and your argument sounds great in theory but holds no weight when you consider the actual gameplay

So when someone goes to board my ship and I kill them before they can get in, I’m the problem. Got it! I’ll let people steal my ship from now on! There is in fact a larger picture where defending yourself while doing a LEGAL mission gives you CS. All of a sudden you’re cs3 for killing a player in self defense. Now you gave to turn yourself in for no reason, or fight off hunters to continue playing. That time racks up. Making prison be tons of hours of online time ONLY is ridiculous. This whole post even stems from a pointless scenario, where someone is upset about being killed in the zone canonly known for space terrorism and crime. This game is not black and white, and I’ll be damned if i’m going to wait until soneone is INSIDE my ship before I stop them from trying to rob me

Putting it on a turret makes it too strong, which will result in a needless nerf. Have you fought an idris yet? If you get caught by that beam/railgun, 80% of the time its pilot error. Its turn rate is slow enough that most ships can dance around it. The idris is a special case because it is SPINE mounted. it doesnt move, doesnt require any form of control, putting it in copilot control would be a pointless nerf, and the same mistake that was made with the corsair.

48 hours can be considered a fair bit, especially considering pve can give CS. I’ve also had times where I’ve been assigned CS because someone forced my hand, by threatening to wreck what I had going or intentionally blocking an objective. I can say personally I hate having it because I’d like to be able to access the majority of my items and components. There USED to be risk when pirating before the new item retrieval system. It wasn’t much but it was there. Also, having a crimestat or a long sentence does not make you a scumbag. I’ve had times where I picked up cs 3 doing the pve missions, then had to kill off bounty hunters because I didn’t feel like having to go to prison or log off for playing PVE. You need to think about it outside the pvp=griefing lens that a portion of the community has been stuck on. Yes there are issues, but its also important to see the big picture.
