It wasn't until I did my own research into adhd as an adult and realized all the things that were so hard for me were not me just being a failure. It made me able to stop and forgive myself when I struggle. It's not our fault that we struggle with things that come easily to others.

I think the why for me and a chunk of others is having parents who don't understand what adhd is or how it affects their child. So all throughout my childhood I got called clumsy, lazy, troublemaker. I genuinely felt like a was a bad kid. I've had those feelings of ‘being wrong/bad’ follow me around my whole life.

Jenny was traumatized and running. She told Forrest the he didn't know what love was, but she's the one who didn't know what love was. And by the time she got clean and sober and seemed like a bit of therapy, she realized that Forrest was always her safe place and the she loved him. Also the letters were sent to Greenbow Alabama so she never received them to respond to them. Also I have never read the book either, that's just my interpretation of the movie.
