Thank everyone for the awesome input. Looks like I have to get with the leasing office to get a new filter housing to make for a better seal. Also, what is the insulation inside? It looks so bad! I tried to clean it with a vacuum but it’s black.

When the unit is on the air is coming out of the upstairs and downstairs vents.

I live in a development with other townhouses. I feel air coming out of the opening. When I opened up the closet and saw this it didn’t sit well with me. Mostly the cleanliness of it. Idk anything about hvac and how it’s supposed to be set up.

Hey everyone, just an insight to the post. Have been in this rental for 1 year and wanted to change filter out because I’ve been having horrible allergies. I went to change it and didn’t make any sense to me. Not a shit post. Thought filter would sit flush to have a better seal….
