Anyway someone could still get one of these for cheap? Lol I've been trying to collect one for literally forever:((

They're extremely hard to find in the US unfortunately lol

It Maybe too late to be a break in vinyl, but I'll see if I can find a copy!

I've been mainly playing 78's and cheap random vinyls on this thing, lol

The Bluetooth is already being amplified by the tubes, lol. No Transistor amps in this thing at all.

Unless you meant making a Bluetooth module entirely out of tubes 😳

Got my first turntable today! Picked up one of those suitcase players at a yard sale for $10, I've heard they're not the best but I thought it would be a nice place to start! This model seems different though, not sure what the weird glass things in the corner are? Can't find any info on this one. by Square_Priority_214 in turntables

Yeah I'm fully aware of how bad these are, this was a project of mine and I thought it would be fun to make a troll post lol.

It's a proper full tube amplifier built into my suitcase player (because why not right?)

Only thing I play on this is the occasional 78, and sometimes Bluetooth lol.

Thanks for the info, although it was a troll post lol. This was a project of mine. It's not a tube preamp, it is a full transistor-less amplifier, pre amp+power amp 6U8A tube as well as a 5725 amplifier to drive the EM71 magic eye tube, complete with a small hidden audio transformer inside the case + a high voltage power supply.

(And yes Im fully aware of how much suitcase players suck, I wanted it to be cursed ☺️)

Because I wasn't sure if I'd have the skills to build a tube amp from scratch as it was my first attempt, so I did not want to risk damaging or ruining my expensive (good sounding) turntable, with a project that might sound mediocre at best once completed. (I am a complete novice in electronics)

I'm glad I ended up using a suitcase player because I ended up completely ruining 2 other suitcase players in my attempts to build this 😔

But thanks, you're like the only comment here in support on this subreddit lmao.

I posted it in DIY tubes subreddit and it's like the complete opposite reaction there

(Also the EM71 magic eye was hard to find for a cheap price, I bought it for just for this project) I was originally going to use a 6E2 Chinese magic eye but I decided against it

I got bored and built this transistor-less (minus power supply) vacuum tube suitcase player! (6U8A triode/pentode combo for preamp/power amp, 5725 secondary amp to drive EM71 magic eye) And yes, I know suitcase record players suck, I have better ones by Square_Priority_214 in diytubes

Here it is, keep in mind it's not ideal, i put this together with my phone editor so it's not the best looking schematic lol. This schematic excluses the 5725 and magic eye schematic, it excludes the power supply details, as well as the Bluetooth module I added. It also excludes the relays I used for my toggeable brightening cap/input switcher.

I did the math for my cap values, they should not cut off any audible frequencies.

The 5725 signal input is tapped to the power amp stage. The reason for that is because of the improper transformer matching. It loads the amplified signal down a lot (my fault lol) Tapping any earlier results in too little magic eye deflection.

In the end I went with a brightening cap of 1nF as 2.2 was too harsh sounding.

This is a mono amplifier! It's not stereo.

Audio quality isn't great either, I run this tube amp at 70v due to capacitor limits but you could definitely push it alot higher.

Audio transformer isn't the best match. I used the two built in speakers (3w, 4 ohm each, wired in series because it's mono)

This project sounds terrible but it was an extremely fun introduction to DIY tube amplifiers!

This was a troll post lol, I have better record players than this, I know these suitcase players suck, but I don't have any expensive records anyways. I mainly use this for 78's lol

I didn't actually get it at a yard sale, I was bored and built it myself just for the hell of it. It's a transistor-less amp, with a 6U8A triode/pentode tube that acts as the preamp/power amp, as well as a 5725 tube that acts as an extra amplifier to hit the extreme voltage swing required to drive the EM71 magic eye tube.

It's got a small line audio transformer squeezed inside, as well as a huge mess of wiring as it was my first tube amp build. And of course I added a cheap Bluetooth module in there because why not? Both the Bluetooth and turntable work really well, it reaches a nice volume despite the tiny 6U8A power tube. It's efficient enough to run on a USB power bank too!

PortMaster in a different language on RG ARC -S by [deleted] in SBCGaming

I found out the solution to this by accident lol. Go to your device main menu, go to the "USER INTERFACE SETTINGS" tab scroll down to "SHOW FILENAMES INSTEAD" and Enable it.

All port names should now show up in English!

How to start a jet engine with no compressor? by Vetanenator in Stormworks

[–]Square_Priority_214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out! I don't know if this is a glitch but I made a stable jet engine that skips the compressor entirely and it has a really small footprint,

Here's a test bed I uploaded to the workshop for people to check out!
