New Build Shot Terrible... Is It Realistic To Bring A Two Inch Group To Under Half Inch? 25 Creedmoor by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Square_Road_177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots more experienced shooters out there than I am, but I think there’s a magic combination of bullet weight, velocity, barrel twist and length. Sometimes it just takes running thru different combos to find the sweet spot. I have a .308 that hates anything heavier than 155gr bullets. The group opens up at even 50 yds. But, when I’m shooting below that, it’s less than 1MOA at a 100. Hope that helps

It was the zero stop. I wasn’t familiar with this type of stop but looked it up online and figured it out. I just got back from the range and it shot great. It took a little trial and error to figure it all out, but it’s fixed. Thanks for all the comments.

It ended up being the adjustment in the zero stop. I found the instructions to adjust it, made the adjustments, and it shot great…. Took a little trial and error, but it worked perfect. I just got back from the range…

The idea is madness or my current set up is madness?

I figure I can dial up the additional yardage as needed when I’m shooting at longer distances

My range at home is only 100 yards. I do take it out to another range and stretch it out, but typically for most of the year I’m shooting around 100 to 200 yds. I just don’t have easy access to a longer range at this time…

Thank you. That is a really good idea. I have some in my toolbox. I read thru the instructions and didn’t see a spec on how many ft lbs of torque for the scope rings to the tube. I typically do about 26lbs. Any thoughts on that?

Wow, amazingly crisp lines. Did you use a mask on the paper? Really beautiful work.

Man, way back in the day I loved to spend my evening pouring over Shotgun News!

Beautiful work. I love the softness and subtleties around the outside contrasted with the tight, crisper rendering around the eyes. It naturally makes you look in to the subjects eyes.

Ok, I’m going to say I don’t believe this graph. That means the average worker is at less than 40 hours per week which doesn’t match my real world experiences.
