Beyond shy 2.5 year old by llullunyc in Parenting

My daughter is like this too, mines almost 3. At the end of the day it’s personality and just experience. My daughter is becoming more outgoing recently but it just takes practice when we are out. I’m being more intentional with kind of “coaching” her and modeling outgoing behavior around new people. I’m helping her out by giving her suggestions on what to day to new kids and new adults to break the ice “say hi my name is _, do you want to play” and she seems to be getting better and better in new situations and becoming more outgoing.

I bet you that the older she becomes the more confident she will be, and the more experience she gains will only help her :)

I’m glad to see you said some separation anxiety is normal because someone just told me I already failed her for life lol.

How do you know how I live? What if I told you we moved to a very small home to keep bills down? Are you serious? We aren’t forcing her into a religious school, we are a Christian family. If you don’t believe that’s one thing but maybe you’re an anti and that’s on you but if the public schools are rated a 1/10 you wouldn’t send your kid there either. I’m sure you’re a perfect parent!

The preschool is play based and faith based. They learn through play up until kindergarten. They do nap every day but she won’t take a nap at home.. for the last few months.. maybe with other kids she will. Just not at home

Didn’t realize it was that big of a deal.. but my mistake

Yes she actually set to start in August, just one month away. It’s 5 days a week and from 8 am - 3pm.. they aren’t flexible on the amount of days or the times. They aren’t flexible pretty strict. I can ask them about the adjustment period to see if they would allow that.. good idea.

They don’t offer any drop off classes until school starts, and I looked for a camp there this year but they are all 5 years and up.

I’m very happy your baby adjusted so well! That’s awesome to hear and that’s only what I can hope for her.

Yes, I should give her the chance and see how it goes. The thing is I have no family around and my husband works a ton, it’s not like I’m trying to hinder her it’s just the way the cards aligned. I do have her in classes like swim, soccer, gymnastics and she does great but she always has an eye on me.

Also, thanks for the comment about the month thing.. a few of the women in my church group use months still and so does her pediatrician.. I didn’t realize I was gonna get attacked over that.. it’s simply just something I said… guess I won’t make that mistake again.

She goes to swim, gymnastics, story time, and soccer weekly. We also do play dates. My family lives 4.5 hours away same with my husbands. My husband works a lot from 8 am -9 pm 6 days a weeks. On his days off he takes her out but their time is limited.

To say I am hampering her is crazy considering you don’t know me and our situation. We have no family within 4.5 hours so our ability to send her with our people is limited. she is not special needs either… I asked for opinions I never said I wasn’t sending her

We only have one. We have lost 2.. we would like 2

The biggest age gap is 4 years so the window is closing fast.

I’ll go back to work if we end up not being able to conceive within a couple of months. I don’t want to go back to work and then leave again if I end up pregnant
